    Default Water res for Akylios

Ok so ive read so many different posts about what is needed for akylios in terms of water resistance. people say as much as you can and then i read that DR's kick in @200 so actually all that is needed is between 130 - 140 selfbuffed +70 from raid buffs to get you to 200 - 210 could someone pls confirm if this is true or not

    thanks

... DR kicks in at like, 2 resist =P

The more you have, the less spikey the raid damage will be.

How much you need depends on how experienced your healers are.

We've done it with 0 water resist outside of archon buffs and planar... but we've done the squid more times than I can remember and we have some ridiculous healers that continue to try and min max everything.

If you're attempting progression for the first time with your guild, more is better. Full WR core + 2x enchants should put you in the comfortable ~200-250 range with raid buffs.

From what I understand, the DR you're hearing about only applies to the mitigation part of resist and even then, you're still getting a bonus from extra points. Also, the chance to resist spells is not affected by DR; that continues to go up at the same rate.

In short, you can probably live at 200 with some good healers, but I'd go about 50 or so higher, as long as you aren't sacrificing every stat you need in the process.

Thanks for the quick responses, im currently @ 144 with 4 Lesser essences and 2 x water runes. but with a water res pot + raid buffs that would take me to 250 right? so i would be pretty comfortable at that??

We killed Aky for the first time on Wednesday (*\o/*), I think self buffed our guys ranged from 50 to 150 WR. I'd say try for 100 minimum with PA and source machine. More is better, but I personally haven't used runes, that funky trinket or the pot on my stuff, though I am a chloro so have quite a bit more health than most.

Yeah, you should be comfortable at that level. I usually run at around 260 (I think? I'd have to check next week to be certain) and I've almost never died to water damage mechanics. I've even gotten clipped by a breath once or twice and lived through it.

(Living through getting clipped was at ranged though, for what it's worth. Orb of Suffocation damage + getting clipped is a good chance of death, even at high resist.)

If you stack 450 water resistance suffocating orb does no dmg atall.

More Water Resistance is always better.
