People keep saying that Infernal Dawn will be Earth and Fire, which means I should have 2 cores for earth and fire resist.
Anyone have any idea if its going to be just fire or earth.

Hopefully, we shouldn't need any, I seriously don't wanna run around with a 6 essence +crit sourcemachine for my rogue.
But it's going to be hammerknell all over again where the majority of the bosses only do death damage, be so sure.
It will be every element, I strongly encourage you to start shoring up your Air resist.

Logically, you easily surmise that most bosses in the place will be fire. Decent amount of earth as well since, y'know, that whole "Wanton Maw" alliance thing...

Someone hasn't done their homework.
Honestly, people rave about resist a bit much. You'd be fine on any encounter in the game with a BiS source machine as long as you had 1-2 of that flavor of resistance + chest/shoulder runes. 80 resist +/- does not make or break any fight, nor did it, when progression started. yes it makes life easier, but it's never necessary if the tradeoff is too high.
