    Default Best Mage Crafting Combo?

I've never really got into crafting before, so mostly I just dabble in it. I certainly don't use it as a primary means to make money. When I do try crafting it's often just to make the most beneficial stuff for me (and maybe guildies if I can do something for them). Also, don't have any plans right now to run alt characters (usually don't until my main has hit cap) so anything I can't get from drops or find for myself I'll have to buy.

So I'm a Necro/War/Chloro and I was wondering what would be the most helpful trio of gathering/crafting professions for me?

Many thanks to anyone who can help who knows more about the crafting and what would help my character out the best.

I play the exact same Mage combo as you for questing.

    My crafting skills are;

    Butchering - For gathering materials
Outfitter - For making those materials into greens
Runecrafter - For breaking those greens and making them into runes

I think it's a pretty good combo as it's fairly self sufficient and you're not relying on nodes that can be stolen by other people. Plus you can make clothie stuff and enchant it for yourself.

Another good combo would be Butchering / Foraging / Apothecary

Again, very self sufficient. I reckon it's gonna be in constant demand end game because potions are consumable. Only downside is people stealing your flowers / herbs.

I took Foraging, Artificer and Apothecary

Foraging for the herbs & wood to supply to the other 2 proffs
Artificer to make wands, staves, totems, rings and necks
Apothecary for pots, philters, bottles, serums etc.

Works out good because the wands, totems, staves are a lot of times better then the quest rewards, and having endless supplies of pot's and serums while leveling (especially as Chloro main soul) is a godsend.

Both have made me decent money o the AH so far too.

This isnt a perfect set up because you still need metal and gems for Artificer, and bones & teeth for Apothecay. Fortunately my leveling partner is Butchery, Outfitter, Mining Good thing is Artificer lets you salvage rings, necks, wands and totems to get some of the raw mats back to reuse.

I took Foraging, Apothecary and Outfitting.
But realising that i need to purchase leather for outfitting to lvl up faster, i drop Apothecary for Butchering. Keeping Foraging mats for future switching back to Apothecary or to sell in AH for extra income.

Agreed. The only problem is I runebreak everything to level up the Runecrafting. I haven't been making much by way of $$ with this combo though.

just take gathering skills, sell the items, and use the money to buy crafted stuff from the AH instead of making it yourself.

Crafting mats are going for high prices, finished items are dirt cheap - in most cases the items sell for less then the mats required to make them. If this ever changes, it will be because of a rare recipe that most people can't get so unless you plan on investing a lot of time into it you will almost certainly always be better off just buying finished goods.

I took Outfitter and Artificer, which let me make items for just about every slot as a mage. I took Butchering to gather items for outfitter, but I could probably have managed without it, as I just end up selling the leather (though it doesn't hurt for skillups sometimes).

I realize it'll be a hard time getting stuff for artificing, but I've just been buying stuff on the AH (terrible I know).
