Does it count as ripping people off when you put things for the price you'd get from a merchant for 48 hours and no buyouts?

Oh, I'm sorry, I should have expected some kind of smartarse - it is the Internet after all.

If you sell something for 100x it's value in "the Real World", it's a rip-off. Why then should it be any different in the game?

EDIT: For clarity, I'm a participant on Low pop server thus I have annoyance issues with overblown AH prices on a regular basis.

Highest percentage profit is obviously to forage, mine and butcher- no cost at all to you. Apoth is costly to craft, but sells well, outfitter is good for bags and consumables. Artificer items do sell well w/o a ton of cost. Runecrafting depends on the server since it's one per item you need, so low pop and not as much call for runes as on a higher pop server. Weps and armor, again fair but population dependent.

I can't speak for any other professions, but I know I made almost 100p yesterday from mining on EI (it was a loooong day though)

A raiding guild that does gdkp.

Right now, it's common enough to gain upwards of 2k+ per week from raid clears.

Mining EI gets you about 30p - 50p per hour if you know where to look

Good mining places are like fishing holes.

how do you mail to your alts on another server?

It works best if you use two toons and send one to another server where bag prices are higher (if there's a lot of cheap silk then there's probably a lot of cheap bags too... buy them for <1 p and send them to another server to sell them for >1.5 p).

On a completely unrelated note, does anyone else think it's weird that the butchering skill produces skins, bones, and teeth, but gathering meat doesn't involve butchering at all?

I routinely get 3-4 chests per hour fishing shallow water around Ember Watch... I've gotten as many as 9. So, that's roughly 25-30p or so just in coin loots from those not counting the price you can get for selling the more valuable fish needed for feasts on the AH.
your set up is same as mine but I've never seen that catch rate, you have the luck....

Going by this, and given that all artifacts vendor for 1 silver, the worst I've ever ripped somebody off was by a factor of 500,000. I should be on Wall Street!

    Default Apoth

Not sure how other professions are but i make good money from Apoth just from dyes alone. Break down level 48-50 lessers for eternal planar dust then forage/butcher the other mats when im out questing. Black dye usually goes for 9-12 plat a pop and white goes for around 11-15 a pop on Wolfsbane. It all adds up too since i try to make them in bulk.
