I'm optimistic about the expansion. I'm not really excited about having only two or three real tank builds for the last six months, though.

Why optimistic? every indication we have is that they are so happy to have 38 reaver as the basis for tanking that tanking across all classes is balanced to that.
I want to be hopeful that there is no way they would leave things in the current state, but I have no reason to think differently.
Considering they are adding ten levels worth of points to every tanking tree, I think it would take a real concentrated effort to still end up with Reaver as the best option. Also, during the 1.6 tanking overhaul, Atrius looked at a lot of our wishlist and kinda hinted it may come at a later date, and that 1.6 was just enough to keep the ship from sinking in the meantime.
Either way, I'm pretty sure we won't end up with Reaver on top. I'm sure SOMETHING will end up on top, I just hope they manage to create different identities/uses for the different tank souls, and not just leave them as "Best, Better, Okay, Crappy," which is the reality now...
