Default Best class to level with Champion?

I played awhile back, albeit not to a very high level - I've gotten my wife to try the game out and she's pretty much a 'wade in a slaughter stuff with big steel' kind of girl... so I'm thinking Champion. She doesn't want anything that complicated, so hopefully that is the right choice for her. If its not, let me know.

Besides that, I'm trying to think of a class that will be the perfect match for her - so what would that be? A cleric of some sort? Or a ranged DPS? I would assume a melee DPS would need a healer more than anything but games are different, so let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks!

Clerics and warriors are always a good match for leveling. The cleric doesn't even need to be full heals, a damage-heavy icar spec (with righteous mandate) should be enough to keep both of you up after a point.

Ok I'll look up some builds. Any specific recommendations?

I personally level as a Shaman with Justicar for melee DPS and some heals. Its not the best DPS or HPS but its fun and you get enough utility for basic leveling Plus you can be right there shoulder to shoulder with her in the thick of the action!

I'd think inquisitor is a much better option. Pairing it with justicar makes for better heals and puts you at range. Inquisitor also has CC abilities. When you get around the 30s, inquisicar really starts to take flight. Soul drain + Circle of Oblivion is a great a reparation healing combo especially with fanaticism on soul drain. Inquisitor is also pretty easy to figure out as well.

If she loves huge swords, I don't think cleric will be for her.
I think Champion with BM would be fun - big sword + great looking cat.

It have some utilities, fun AOE and cat, that can keep some mobs, while you are killing others.

Sorry if I was misunderstood - yes SHE will be the champion, and I'll be the cleric =) No pets - I think she would get confused. Maybe later =)

I'll look up inquisicar and see if there are any builds out there I can use as a guide.
