Paladin is the premier off tank because of preservation, and 1/3rd of the warlord's benefits are overwritten by an archon. The other 2/3rds are situational. Most mechanics are set up on short timers to prevent this from being a /solve function.

There are some nice uses for 32 warlord. I won't deny that. Grug was one. Darktide another, and Rusila is another one if you're just helping in P2. I however do not want to think of what you'd get hit for by TC. That's a lot of added healer stress.

I agree that pally is a great off tank, BUT in my opinion justi is a much better off tank due to mein switching.

I'm getting a little tired of 38 Reaver myself. I do enjoy watching a 51VK take a slamming in comparison though. That always makes my day while simultaneously making me a little sad inside, given that I ran 51VK for everything, before 38R got herpaderp.

I do wish Warlord was more viable though. There are so very many useless talents in the tree.. And I wish that Assault Command was tweaked in some way to make it unique to Warlord, rather than having it be a useless skill in a raid setting due to Archons.

If surge was a 35m passive threat generator... and you had Accord pulsing pacts every 3 seconds.... ON TOP of you're normal pact gains (which in my PvP spec, I get to 10 pacts in 2 globals on the 3 dummies... one in PvP with 5+ people around me) That'd be a little extreme. On caster bosses you could literally go afk after the pull. 51vk would be just absurd threat... far over the top.

@Jewel mein switching is only really useful for DOLing encounters. Drak and Concalve are examples where there is not a ton of AOE damage when you're OTing. But really I was just talking about paladin vs warlord.

I still enjoy the Reaver. There's no encounter that made me say "I wish I had ....". But yeah, having an alternative to Reaver wouldn't hurt. Just please don't mess it up.

This is a followup post to someone's Warlord post. Short story is I an sick of using reaver for everything and wish that other souls were more viable. Use this thread if you agree and post your wish list for the soul. Brownie points if you don't make it op in pvp.


I'd like to see Pact conversion +surge become a massive 35m AOE threat to compete with DOL.
It would also be nice to see the mans drains affect energy in power like every other mans drain

I agree big time Sebb, I tried to use VK last night on Aky just as the add tank. I was really disappointed in Pact Conversion on pulling in the adds. Cyclone strike is better than Tempest and Reaver dots are better than Pact conversion or so it really seemed to me. AoE agro is just not what it used to be it seems since the Spotters change.

I still use 51 Void Knight to run Experts when I don't want to pay attention. All the auto-threat is just awesome.

So funny story. I think I came up with solutions that basically makes all the warrior tanking specs close to equal (sorry 51WL).

-RD changed to something silly like +resistance or -CD on discharge/rift shield
-Devour changed to +1% for every point over 32
-Unyielding defense changed to +10%
-Hardened Will changed to give 0.6% for every point over 32. **** Changed - see xls sheet.

This balances all our physical mitigation and magical mitigation for a wide number of specs. The only thing to do then is to change some things to improve utility - like reduced CD on Light's rapture/reverent protection, better aggro generation from surge/PC.

Updated to better reflect dodge/parry discrepancies and added in rogue/cleric souls. Probably not going to do another update unless there's something blatantly wrong that needs changing (I think Thorivin's law is wrong). Will leave it on docs though.
