    There's a few things though:

    1. Crits do 1.5x damage, not 2x, and FoW/Slayer's add to that multiplier
    2. Crits are based off the maximum possible normal hit, rather than the average, so you would have to find the average normal damage. Otherwise you'll have higher values for normal hits, lowering the value of crit.
    3. It's not enough to pick 1 ability and base it off that, since different abilities scale differently with AP, especially with 1.8. Ideally you would want to base it off the weighted average of all the abilities used in a rotation, but this can become a lot of work.
    4. Raid buffs could have an effect on the numbers, and it can be difficult to figure out their effect without having a full raid at your disposal.

In my dps calculator spreadsheet I have models for most warrior abilities which could make things somewhat easier. If you need any help, I'd be happy to.
    1. I assumed a 51 Champ specc, which has neither but you are right - it should be 1.5 so the approximation of AP scaling factor and base damage becomes 0,432669*AP + 1435.

    2. For the new calculation i just assume a 20% gap between min and maxhit and just approximate it with 0,9*maxdamage

    3. Yeah you would have to do it for most of the abilities (and speccs...), but i doubt it would change much, as probably most of the abilities scale the same way. Maybe i'll do a finisher later as they could have vastly different ap scaling.

    4. I think you only have to consider the raidbuffs which affects critchance and stats directly as the rest of the buffs should affect every ability and every average damage the same way.

    So the calculation would become:

    http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i...2C0%3Cy%3C1020

So its still valid to assume critcap is optimal. But yeah the difference between being at the critcap and not is not nearly as large as expected.

"For the new calculation i just assume"
You don't just assume, especially when you're using an inferior method to test what you're trying to find out. You're so far removed from live, physical, relevant data at this point that you may as well be trying to claim alzheimer's is cured based on a study you did on worms.

I'll come back when you all have your math down. I honestly suggest you put the calculators down and just parse real battle data. Not simply start with real battle data, then hide your opinions behind a series of mathematical assumptions you hope no one will shoot down.

You don't have to do any math to know the real answer here, and math is not the way one tests this hypothesis.

It's simply not. Just parse. If you can't give confidence intervals to your data to cover RNG, just ask. They aren't hard, and unlike some of this laughable math acrobatics, it's actually a valid way to look for answers.

So let me know when you've come to the conclusion that the soft cap doesn't matter. Or if a decent number of you are fairly certain, with whatever proof you agree on beats live battle parsing, and I'll look at it.

Don't post any more breakdowns of power strike, please. ID loot is dropping right now. We don't have time for that. We need the verdict as soon as possible.

I suggest you just drop the math and parse. But then again, you probably already know why you're not doing that, and instead you're proving with a pencil.

Considering you have neither experience in math or scientific experimentation i'll just stop responding to you in the future.

Confirmed... on my Raid parse last night, 51/9/6 spec, BF crit hits like 6600ish (not exact), deathblow hits for 7800ish.. roughly 1200 dmg more for same GCD, should be dps gain on a single target

The beautiful thing about 51/9/6 is that I can take my unbuffed crit to around 37%, stack more AP in its place, and let Way of the River take me back up to cap. Thank you, paragon buff!

Way of the River should stack over soft cap anyways since it's a % based buff, so you are still giving up that 3% crit... that said it may be worth it anyways if you're getting enough AP on the other side of the deal.

Saw that too, I hadn't really test Deathblow on the pts :x
I wonder if the fact that Destroyer's bearing does not grant the additional Attack Point offset DB additional damage... Else we can just spam builder/Deathblow when under 30%.

Then again, I couldn't try DB in a raid environment ( it's mid-day here, won't raid before tonight ), and in some expert dungeons I was under the impression it barely did more damage than Bladefury...

I think its just a bug. Other classes have talents/skills that do more damage when the boss is under a certain percantage. If they fix it i wonder if deathblow would be more damage gain that cornered beast though

Soft crit cap with raid buffs and 2000ap with flaring power and all my procs is pretty good. I will grab a screenshot tonight during Ithuziel.

That is indeed very good lol I don't have full relics, but with all procs (GI and Kraken's) im at around 1650 AP while maintaining crit cap. Where the hell you squeezing another 350 AP from? 0_o

Not really true. To get the AP proc off of DB your finisher has to consume 3 AP's
