I know it's been about 10 days since Atrius last posted. When was the last time we've had any changes pushed to the PTS? I've been slacking on getting on there and playing around but don't want to waste my time if there's some pending changes coming in the next day or two.

NO changes recently, no upcoming changes announced recently either.

PTS is currently stale for nearly 2 weeks.

There is absolutely nothing in "high champ" that makes it a clear and dry aoe spec. Follow through is 17 points in, and every other spec is going at least 20 in champ and some specs will pick it up. Cornered beast? Oh right, there is Rift Storm which is lower point investment, fire and forget, and you can still do cleaves/ogcds while its firing off unlike Cornered Beast that is channeled. Sorry dude, but that's far from aoe focused. More like physical focused with a 17pt aoe boost that other souls will use as well.

Melee can very easily hit Zilas during the laser phase by running just outside the pink aura.

Always end up tanking it or being ranged on my cleric so never really paid attention to the melee range aspect, since as tank I just worry about picking up adds and dodging laser. Reaver dots and aoe cleaves hit regardless of my range

Maybe so. I've thought about this, but there are casting disadvantages that are being ignored in both of your posts. For example: If we have a fight that forces a lot of movement (ie a "run around guurloth mechanic, zilas laser, or akylios breath/wave, etc) then casters lose a huge chunk of their dps. Much like we do with disconnect mechanics (prince hylas, estrode, matron, etc).

You should think about this longer... Mages top dps specs require being stationary but other specs allow movement with extremely heavy ae while losing very little dps. These specs on most fights yield higher dps. Spell pushback in these specs are not an issue as well. They have other options based on the fight. Rogues can use ranged builds with good dps while stationary. If the fight requires movement the rogue just goes melee. Clerics... who cares.

What option does a warrior have during crushing blows? Or wrath? The dps loss is real. The only way to get back even part of the loss is to use our crap ranged attacks.

Champ only has AoE Finishers high in the tree. BF,CB,TS only thing after 23 that gives other than passive dmg buff for ST is Disruptive strike. While RB/Para has much more that can be used to amplify ST DPS output.

FYI - every DPS tree has an AOE attack at 26 points in with an 8s cool down. Only para doesn't have that attack as a finisher.

RB is the only tree that has 3 aoe finishers
Para is the only tree without an aoe finisher.

I wouldn't really consider Titan's Strike aoe anymore since the changes to it. It does aoe, but pretty damn weak aoe. Bladefury absolutely destroys it. It's still a joke.

TBH you guys are being fooled by HK set bonuses more than anything. Champs HK set bonuses are aoe oriented and that's really what puts them over the top for aoe. Whats to say RB won't have that on ID set bonuses? I for one don't expect to see the same bonuses on ID gear. It has very little to do with the actual specs.
