Default Returning to Rift - How are Warriors?

Returning to Rift after taking a break just before 1.5 hit live. Since I'm interested in making a Warrior, I'd like to know how they're doing, mainly PvP and tanking. From what I've read raid DPS is still pretty high currently.

Just need general info about the state of Warriors compared to other classes of the same role.

    Thanks in advance.

It's a dark time for the warriors in PVP, PVE no changes. Tank is pretty easy now and they made all 4 souls useful actually.

Its not exactly dark, more like dusk, in PVP. We can do some nice support with the VK build at lower levels and if you team is half way smart they can destroy the mage/cleric we harrassing. In PVE we are doing well, best tanks, and good DPS using a two hander with our dual weild soul.

    PVE dps - good/great

PVE tanking - A bit OP overall, but there's a lot of flexibility now which is nice

PVP - It's not horrible, the problem is being gimpy in the burst department and being melee range only makes for a bad combination. And warriors are the only class almost completely dependent on teammates for healing and such - every other class has options or builds to not need it.

1v1 warriors are not bad if you fight in an outlast them approach - really, the only way to play warriors in pvp right now without a healbot.

Edit: I should mention PVE dps is only really good using ONE spec which requires very good coordination and rotation. Most other specs are a good distance behind. Oh and it's melee range only.

    Pretty much what Xney said.

PvE DPS - Great. #2 ST DPS / #1 AoE DPS all rolled into 1 build.

PvE Tanking - Great. #1 tank out of all the callings.

PvP - Ok. Arguably the weakest of the 4 callings. Good warriors still do very well in WFs though.

True. So just keep in mind you must PVE to PVP, and it helps in the reverse as well.

    PvE
Dps = good dps just one step behind mages
tank =best tanker of all calling
    support= ?Mhh not sure

    PvP
Dps =its on bottom spot (getting better with r8 weapons but anything below r8 is just another pain )
Tank=Imo i think pvp tanking warrior is behind rogues and clerics
support=? again not sure but we have vk aoe silence and fear bomb is awesome.Still mana drain is a joke.

Play both aspects of the game and you will have advantages over those who only play one aspect of it no matter what calling you choose.

The above posts are basically correct, as far as the state of warriors. Stay tuned for further 1.7 Patch Notes; Warriors are hoping for some big time issues to be addressed.

in pve we are superior tanks, mid range dps (my guild sees rogues and clerics slaughtering us in aoe dps, ST we are usually behind rogues by about 600+ dps and good mages beat us by about 200-300), in pvp i think from what i am seeing its about 80% rogues now...we are in a horrible state there, but with our dev talking again and 1.7 on the horizon there might be some light in this in the future...dev tracker has some recent discussion from atrius on some upcoming changes.

I'm having the fun of my MMO life playing Rift PvE - Both as tank & DPS. Probably you will too, it's a great game and we're doing really fine in PvE.

PvP? Don't come back. Or roll cleric or mage. Stay away from warrior. We're basically thrash mobs in WFs, dropping lots of favor as loot.

Mages in cloth ignore our huge axes or swords and go for another target while we try to dent them. Clerics? They just keep on doing whatever they do while we circle around them like butterflies. A same or lower rank mage can hit you for 5 digits (after setup of course, not instantly, but their setup takes like what, 3 secs), and all you will do is... Umm... Hit for 500 tops?

We're beyond broken in PvP, it's not even sad, it's quiet funny.

EDIT: Anyways it's much better if you see it yourself, but when you enter a 15/15 WF and see 20-25 of players are mages and clerics, you'll remember my words. Recently I was the only warrior in a 12/12 WF, others were either mages or clerics.
