First of all.

#1. All damage including flamespear etc. scale with AP damage. That being said yes 1 str = 1 AP = 0.1 point of damage.
#2. While flamespear appears to be "magic" we have tested and adding int and spell power items do not add any damage to this ability. We have increased Spell power by ~200 and saw less damage due to changing out str gear for int.
#3. For everyone who keeps touting dex over str. 1 pt dex = 0.5 pt crit chance. 1 pt str = 0.4 pt crit chance. However 1 pt str also = 1pt AP, 1pt block, 1.5 points parry. 1pt dex = 1 pt dodge and 0.4 pt parry.
1 pt crit chance = 0.41% crit which means 100 dex over 100 str means 4.1% increase in crit but 10 less damage per hit. 150 pts less block. and 110 pts less parry (30% less chance at parry).
So taking all this into account on an offensive perspective 100 hits at 300 points a hit. For the dex build would be. 4.1 hits of plus 150 damage = +615. Str build would be 3000 plus damage.
Defensively dex loses out and even more so if you use block against physical types and only gains a slight advantage assuming you can dodge a spell.
All I can say is strap it on dex monkeys.. I hope I run into tons of you in the warfronts.
