Very nice guide.

So do we have a secret handshake yet? Or if i don't know it already im not in? =(
Hmmm has anyone had much experience using the Sin Incapacitate in dungeons ? It's great having both of them for soloing, but I've always been a little bit nervous about trying to use the Sin one in a dungeon without having Silent Steps and perma stealth. Well, not that I even get much use out of Lost Hope most of the time anyway, since most tanks just jump/port in and splash everything. :/
The downside there is that it has a 30s cooldown so you can't really lock a target down with it. Still it's nice to have, and kind of odd to see so many people skipping it for an extra percent or two of DPS. If you add the Sin's Blind on top of that you can hold something for 25s which is a pretty fair ammount of time considering how fast trash fights go in Rift. I'm hoping that the request from the encounter designers to the class devs for more CC, which slashed the cool down on the AoE CC abilities, will eventually get to the single target ones as well. Maybe then we could keep something locked down in combat between Dark Containment and Blind.Originally Posted by Jaryk
As far as Primal Strike goes, yeah the physical damage has always annoyed me as well, but I guess I've let go of it a bit.
Part of that would be because if we're stuck with physical, there isn't much reason not to poach other souls CP builders instead. ;) If I have them in a given build I'd favour Keen Strike/Quick Strike or Backstab over buffing up Primal Strike. Primal Death averages out to a 15% damage bonus, and if you add in Unstable State and Heat Retention it ends up ~17-17.5% or so. I haven't really drilled down on it, but my hunch would be that it'd be a little better than KS/QS but not by enough to justify the points, and Backstab would still come out ahead (from what I understand, even with the +crit talent and the positional bonus from Double Cross, that Savage Strike is still a little behind Backstab. Though Savage Strike has a 4-5% lower base damage bonus than Primal or Keen, or at least it did the last time I looked).
Well, as long as you can maintain position anyway, which isn't too hard, but bosses do seem to have a fair ammount of anti melee abilities, even from behind (though some of that may have just been me pulling aggro >.< It's kind of hard to tell, tank threat is so high it shouldn't really be happening, but it does seem to at times).

Nightblade was the first soul that caught my attention for a solo/dps spec back in Beta 1. However due to power regen issues and didly squat for damage I haven't tried it since and went with with the default MM/Ranger/Bard build which while effective I find boring in addition to my hating the pet boar (the way he looks, he tanks pretty good though). So I've decided to look into the NB as a main soul once again and here I am. I'm only lvl 22 and am currently specced NB/Bard/Sin:

However, I feel like I'm wasting too many points in Bard and if I getting into trouble with a bad pull while soloing the Bard heals aren't going to keep me up. So I'd appreciate any suggestions on another solo NB build, I'm considering a NB/RS/Sin along the lines of:

Would love any feedback on this build and where to go from there (thinking of putting the next 2 points in RS for Stalker Phase).
Excellent guide.
One question, whats the best weapon enchantments to use while levelling?
Hellfire Blades is a must. But with that, use Assasin's Poison or Smoldering Blades?
The second best damaging weapon enchant most of the time is Sin's Lethal Poison (the 8 point one with the +5% crit chance debuff proc). Smoldering Blades takes a longer single target fight (bosses mostly) in order to out damage even the free Sin poison unless you're getting lucky with it.

People like you are starting to annoy me. I've had it enough with your little ''nightblade cult''. To most people who don't understand what is going on, there is that bunch of 40-50 people on the forums trying to prevent anyone into picking nightblade or talking about nightblades because they know if lots of people play it they will find out that it is currently 1 of the best souls in the game, probably the best and it will get nerfed.
Yes 1-15 is bad, however why don't you give it a try on higher level? I've played many mmos, I also played a nightblade level 40 in the beta and it was wait too op!
The whole "Night Club" thing isn't so bad as far as class in jokes go, you should have seen Wardens in LotRO with their (lack of) Rs and their "cookys", wouldn't let a thread get past the first page without a massive de-rail. Now that got irritating, this... not so much.
I don't think it's as much a fear of nerfs (there isn't any one particular thing that sticks out about NBs as being OP or needing toned down) as it is more of a hipster thing really. Nightblades are like that band with a hohum debut that no one paid any attention to, only to follow it up with an absolutely brilliant sophmore album, and still nobody was paying any attention. Except for a particular niche. Who'd rather it stay niche, than get picked up and over played on Mtv (well not that that could happen, they haven't played a video in what ? almost a decade now ? ) and the radio. Even though the band has earned all of the success and accolades that it can get.
It's kind of lame, but everything really *is* cooler before anyone knows about it. ;)
Nightblades are one of the best souls in the game right now, and quite possibly the best designed (well they do have pretty much the best tree anyway) of the lot. They deserve to be more popular, and who ever designed them should get a round of applause and a hearty pat on the back (also... a raise. ;) ).
Of course, I certainly wouldn't mind if they stayed cool and unkown instead of hitting the big time.
And anyway, you didn't hear any of that from me. Night... whos ?
