I actually tested this with my Ashen Shank over my Midnight's Edge and it looks like it's true that melee weapons are just stat sticks and weapons DPS doesn't have any effect at all. So the whetstones are just another example of tool tips that are completely wrong and/or useless.

your melee weapons shouldnt have any affect on ranged damage other than from stats, thats how its understood to be.

however its been understood that whetstones on melee weapons still increase ranged damage, cause, well just because.

i breifly tested with sab for my own personal interest what was better and lightning glyphs made more of a difference on bombs than whetstones do. this is however sab, and sab is weird.

id be curious to know what whetstones do currently for ranger/MM, ill check when my stones wear out but honestly i dont know anymore,

Melee - go for highest weapon dps (as long as the stats aren't horrible like a tank weapon) in your mainhand, in your offhand go for whatever will give you the highest ap.

Higher dps tank weapons are still superior to lower tier weapons with better dps stats~

If 1 weapon DPS is as good as 10 AP, tank weapons of a higher tier definitely improve your damage.

i know sab is weird but 2x lightning glyphs seem to produce larger numbers with my bombs than whetstones on my daggers. (just comparing damage numbers of the same skills before.after not rotations)

I noticed this as well and I think it's because certain bombs have 200% AP contribution. So the 30 Ap you're getting from Lightning Glyphs may be better than the whetstones. I found it best to use one of each, although I didn't test mainhand/offhand differences.

100% use the PVP weapons if you do not have weapons with higher DPS, assuming you can hit the targets in the tier of content you are playing. Essentially, if you don't have ID weapons, you should be using the PVP weapons because they are by far the easiest to get and also are guaranteed.

I'd say Akylios relics are by far easier to get. Not gauranteed though.
