Thread: Saboteur changes for 1.8 The first issue I would like feedback on is the Power Regeneration. I have tweaked it to a point but I need feedback on it from actual players (You guys) in a real world environment to fine tune it. The value is not final and will likely need to be changed. The goal is to minimize the use and need for Tablets and make players who do not use them more viable without completely removing the use of the Tablets in game
Hit the "n" button in game.
A soul tree will pop up. You can put points into the soul tree to gain new abilities. Notice to the side there are empty boxes. Click those boxes and if you went to your class trainer you can select another soul. This means you can have abilities from 3 souls at once. What abilities you get are determined by where and how many points you put into each of your 3 souls. You can buy up to 6 "roles" from your class trainer. "Roles" save your spec so that you can change on the fly for whatever the situation requires.
Welcome to rift!
You should think about writing a guide Z. For Sure.
Did some quick testing on pts today. Some things I noticed:
In order to not clip spike charges whilest using carpet bombing, you want to 'fill' those gcds with bombs preferably. This can't be done, as you'd waste carpet bombing charges on frag bombs or time bombs instead. So I'd actually suggest changing carpet bombing to only affect Annilhation Bomb.
Other then that it felt quite decent and fun to play - it was quite tough to decide when to start up stacking spike charges for when Annil bomb came off of CD. Tho the rotation might work out perfectly with fervor, if you dont get energy starved then.
It feels quite weird that the crystal of an AOE soul gives bonusses to 'single target' charges (spike, blast). I'm actually not sure if the +15% to all aoe also affects the spike charges when detonated by an annilhation bomb.
It also was annoying that you still had 5 combopoints after using annil bomb to detonate spike charges. Not quite sure what to do with those.
Well thats my 4 cents. Really looking forward to blowing up stuff in 1.8!
Telarans on class balance: Rock is overpowered. Paper is fine. - Scissors
Why haven't the latest rogue changes been pushed to PTS yet?
Rogue DPS BiS | Critical Hit | Soft Cap: 1187 | Hard Cap: 3163Retired | ANet: Qan.4672 | Steam: qankriegor
That's the million dollar question.
Here's to hoping that it's due to Ailion wanting a few more tweaks and some of our ideas in place before he pushes to PTS.

Judging from his posts thus far, I think he's primarily concerned with PvE for Sabo.
I'd love to have the old charge booster back since it would probably fix the damage issues we have quite well. Especially now with the debuff priorities and whatnot, using rainbow charges wouldn't mess up magic damage taken debuffs for raids.
As for self-healing, it was stated by a dev that sabo is not getting healing. So continuing to ask for it is pretty much not going to accomplish anything. Besides, no rogue soul at all can spec for reliable self healing. Our best self heal is in RS and that requires the mob to die with CPs on it.
I also would like to thank you Beckmann for your extensive work. To theorycraft information based on hypotheticals to such a degree I think takes a large amount of skill and patience. I like several others would like to thank you for taking the time to post your tests and theorycrafts.
Self healing is the most important change needed for sabo pve. Without any way to stay alive you are just going to detonate once and die.
There are 3 situations in which storm caller and cabalist (the other aoe souls) are used.
1) PVE raiding
2) PVP
3) PVE solo
It seems foolish to only focus on one of those aspects.
Having the old charge booster back will solve one of the saboteur soul's core problems in fixing the set up time for putting on dps, I have been advocating this for as long as I can remember. Giving us the old charge booster back will help saboteur out in (1) and (2).
In regards to (3), Daglar said there are no plans to implement healing for the saboteur soul in the short term. Self healing is a real problem and there should be plans implemented to fix it if not in the short term, then in the long term. I do agree with the point you made. The problems with saboteur self healing are part of a larger systemic problem with the way rogue self healing functions in comparison to the other 3 callings. Hopefully we can get this fixed.
