Default Verdant bow vs P8 gun, need advice please!

Just a quick question for all of you number guru's that understand this game much better than i ever will. So i got my P8 gun yesterday which is 55dps and i had the Verdant Relic Bow.

I thought that having a 55dps gun compared to a 46 dps bow would be great, however my raid numbers and parsing numbers are not showing that. If anything they are about the same.

Of course i had to drop some dex on my other items to add hit for HK and i lost my 4 piece proc on my Nimble Rogue gear as well which randomly procs for like 225 or so.

I guess i am asking any of you experts that i have already experienced this to shed some insight. Is the gun better? Should i still use the bow? Is losing 30 dex > than the 9dps on the gun.

Any feedback would be appreciated. If more info is needed let me know but i think i covered what is needed. Major loss was 30 dex give or take, keep in mind i added AP and CRIT from the gun however.

Well I say parse bc the originals where dps meters & called parses here,I use a custom addon that shows all types of dps, enemies & mine in real time in the game...so technically I don't parse anymore

Also it measures true dps, which parsers technically did not.

Also depending how much planar attune you have gained it could make an even bigger or closer gap on the 2 depending what you have leveled in it...really shouldn't be a huge diff either way bro, unless ur a serious min maxer.

So...you picked up a better dps wise weapon, but dropped a bunch of dps stats...and they about even out?

    Sounds about right.

Go to a dummy. The ones in your home city, not the ones on the forums. Test with one weapon. Then without switching gear, switch to the other weapon. You dont need a dps parser if you pay attention to the numbers on the screen-25 percent increase in DPS on the weapon should be easily noticeable. Do a 1 minute rotation, then check your combat log, do another rotation and compare.

Or get a dps parser and guesstimate.
