The difference is low, but with the first variant you get a slightly better uptime of Electrified stacks over the run of Hailstorm, your hardest hitting skill.

Flash Freeze is about +/- DPS, but you use it right after Artic Blast so you don't strip Electrified stacks before AB has hit, which is delayed due its travel time.

after the huge buff to forked lightning - is it worth even specing into lightning storm anymore?

Yes -- as I suggested, I throw it just after Hailstorm to keep 3/3 Elec for the whole duration of HS. And if nothing else you can use it as burst stacker for ST.

I generally run the 36/30 spec rather than 35/31 however my single target rotation seems to differ from everyone elses.

I Start with
RS - > Flame bolt -> Ice Shear -> SF on -> Icicle -> SF off -> LF x 4

Then contiunue using the following
Thunderbolt -> flamebolt -> Iceshear -> SF on -> Icicle -> LF x 3 -> SF off -> LF

Please note that i have the 4 piece HK crystal and ~2200sp in raid with procs etc and i am not sure if that makes all the difference.

you are probably thinking why Lightning Field over Cloudburst. With that level of SP there is ~ 50 damage difference between CB and LF and with the additional 10% crit that LF recieves it seems to do more DPS in a single target fight.

As far as AOE goes since the change to FL hititng 8 targets if there is less than 8 targets i always clip Lightning storm with LF once 3 stacks are up.
