    Default SC/Chloro leveling build?

Making a new mage on a different server. My other mage I had mainly leveled as Chloro/lock and that was fun but wanted to try a SC/Chloro version. I dont like Nec and I already have a ELE build that I like..
My mage is lvl 32 so would go the 13 points in Chloro for the spores.. but then not sure what the best way to build the SC portion of the build and best aoe rotation( I pretty much always aoe grind while picking up some quests along the way)

I would suggest THIS at lvl 32. You can spec back into Shell Shock if you find the root beneficial, but personally I don't really think it's worth it. Specing Charged Field really ramps up your burst AoE damage and consequently healing potential. Deadly Shards gives you a nice ST damage increase.

    Regarding rotations....

    For single target:
    Radiant Spores
    Icicle
    Withering Vine
Raging Storm (full duration channel for 3 stacks of electified)
    Ice Shear
    Spam Cloudburst

If the mob is still quite alive when your stacks of Electrified get to around 3s remaining, then use Thunderbolt to refresh, fire off Icicle if you get a Storm Shard proc, and then Ice Shear > Cloudburst spam again.

Save Electrocute for the odd occasion where you need a knockback to create some space.

    For AoE:
    Pull mobs with Ice Shear
Group them up and hit Radiant Spores
    Flash Freeze
    Hailstorm
    Forked Lightning x 3
    Lightning Field spam

If mobs are still alive, re-apply Electrified with Forked Lightning to 3 stacks, and then Lightning Field spam again if you need to.

Don't forget to use Static Flux if you're in a longer fight.
    Icy Vortex for damage reduction.
Ride the Wind to create distance - ideally after Flash Freeze if you're AoEing.

I would suggest as you level up from here, putting your remaining points into Pyro to steadily build up a SC/Pyro/Chloro that works really well for endgame soloing. By lvl 50 I would suggest something like THIS. You can take a point out of SC and add it to Spark in Pyro if that extra 0.1s really matters to you. The only thing you need to change in the above rotations, is to rotate in Flame Bolt for an additional 10% spell damage. Continue to use Static Flux as your charge consumer too, since it depletes charge slower than Internalize Charge, and the only spell not benefitting from Static Flux is Flame Bolt anyway.

for ST purposes, you'll get the most dps out of getting 3/3 in storm shard. I would take those points out of stretch of cold for now as that's not the most important thing seeing as you hardly have any point to spend in your soul over 15%.

At level 24, my icicle would always crit for around 730 so I"m sure at your level it would also be about half a mobs HP for regular mobs.

    Raging Storm
    Ice Shear
    Icicle
    Withering Vines
    Cloud Burst spam
refresh with forked lightning or thunder bolt(not sure on the coefficients so I'm not sure which is more potent at that level)

If you pre-spore, icicle is basically a full heal as well if it procs radiant spores.

The only time I use withering vines for AE is when I"m chain pulling solo and pull with withering vines

So the pull phase would go like:

Withering vines all the mobs I want(5-8)
Gather them up for radiant spores
    Forked Lightning X3
    Lightning Field X2
    FL X3
    LF X2

until everything is dead and keep up spores.

I forgot to say with sc/chloro, when you're solo, it's more beneficial to face tank everything than run around. You'll get more heals that way and faster damage.

I promise you won't die, I've used this spec for all level ranges mentored. Burning Shield in pyro is the best defensive CD you can get without sacrificing points for it.

I think I must be doing something wrong because I really like the spec but I am taking a lot of dmg and not getting anywhere near the kind of heals I was getting with my Lock/chloro build

In your previous build you were likely using life damage spells for damage. Life Giving Veil would proc heals at 80% or so of the damage. With your new build you will be using non-life damage, and getting only 5% healing from your damage. The only big heals you will get will come from your Radiant Spores procs.

It's a matter of preference. I prefer to pull with something that isn't a DoT, because I use Flash Freeze in my rotation to give me time to add extra space, so by the time the mobs reach me I'll already have fired off Forked Lightning x 3, and will be ready to spam Lightning Field.

If that doesn't work for you, by all means tag them with Withering Vine for the additional healing.

Well my other build the chloro part was basically the same except I would throw in a ruin every now and then.. but maybe the difference was my warlock armor giving me heals back as well as mortality every few pulls.

So this is a more basic fundamental question.. what if anything can I do to get more healing procs? spores only proc when I get hit right? It was mentioned earlier "If you pre-spore, icicle is basically a full heal as well if it procs radiant spores." how does icicle proc spores?

Also, I was trying the flash freeze method .. do a lot of mobs resist that? It seems when I try that for aoe at least one mob always resists it and keeps coming at me

Radiant Spores heals you for 100% of the damage you do.

Your charged field hits for 300 and procs radiant spores, it heals you for 300. At my gear level solo out in EI when I grind, it heals me for 3k'ish because that's how much my charged field hits for.

However it's just a chance and I believe without the chloro synergy crystal it's 15%? But if you pull enough but not too much the lightning field/charged field hits should be enough to proc radiant spores enough to take you from almost dead to full health in a matter of half a second.

With 3/3 Phytogenesis (improved RS), it's a 16 percent chance. AoE will help maximize the chance of healing, though you also have to balance out how many hits you think you can take with how quickly you expect to heal back up.
