    Default Old Lock/Chloro/Nec aoe build still work well

    I am returning to the game from a very long absence. When I left my mage alt was level 48 and of course my old builds were reset so I have been trying to put together what they used to be and what would work now.
    My Ele builds didnt get wiped and should still be fine but would this work well for AOE grinding like it used to?

    No I do not have uber gear.. I am only level 48 and havent played in almost a year

    Mage solo specs are in a bit of an odd state now. A necrolock spec can solo stuff individually or take down groups reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllyyyyyy slowly. Newer builds like SC/chloro and pyro/chloro are a bit gear-dependent as you rely on Radiant Spores to heal you while you nuke down packs of mobs (it's doable without a chloro synergy crystal for improved RS, but it may get dicey).

    I would probably recommend a necrolock spec of some sort. Use the DPS pet (the necro tank pet is terrible), DoT mobs up and Soul Purge stuff to death. Without gear, it's a gamble to solo with a different spec. I'm unsure of what exact build to use though (someone else might have more info).

    So is the warlock armor combined with aoe spores not enough anymore? I used to run big packs of mobs.. dot them all then drop mortality & then devouring shadows 1 or 2 times that usually was good to go

    It could work, Devouring Shadows kind of sucks now that you can't doubletick.

    I may be in the minority, but I find Ele-Chloro still works just fine for soloing.

    It's not as fast at my Pyrochlor, but I can be in tells, looking through my bags, or not be 100% focused and still do fine.

    You have decent AE ability to take down packs in good speed. Burning ground + Firey assault(once you have some charge) works vey well on the packs of mobs your earth pets runs around and gathers up for you.

    You can use IC+LB+CM to power down larger solo targets in EI. And I still think it's a lot easier to solo elites, or handle a 3rd invasion pathing along on top of the 2 you're already fighting.

    Yeah I just tried out the old lock build with the devouring shadows and wow does it suck now. It used to own for aoe leveling

    My secondary aoe grind build was ele/chloro mainly for when I wanted to do some rifts so maybe I will try poly's version.
    The other specs I have read all seem so gear dependent which is not good for leveling since gear isnt uber lol

    Hmm I just checked. What i was running before was a 37 ele 24 chloro 3 arch at level 48. I had gone the 24 points for the 3 points into natural fusion for the 60% healing bonus on sythesis.. of course I dont even know if that still applies lol

    It's a matter of personal preferance.

    Some will do a more Hybrid build instead of 51 to go deeper in Chloro.

    I prefer to rely on passive LGV heals plus the periodic Quicken Elements and have more thump then more passive healing going to the pet through synth.

    IF you kill fast enough you can always heal the pet up after the fight.
