How has this not been fixed? I've been gone for months.
Pretty much every non-Pyromancer DPS spec is total garbage, and even Pyromancer is questionable for really high-end PvP. I can't imagine any 5v5 group would even take a Mage.

You are correct most 5 v 5 teams would not take them. The majority of mages, thankfully, try to face tank the melee classes in this game. The goods one though. Frack they absolutely destroy. You will know when you are a good mage when you own every class on the battlefield, perhaps except VK, with one spec. Until then its a PEBCAK issue.
I'd say pyro/dom or 51 pyro could probably warrant a spot in a 5 man. They're bursty and surviveable enough to be useful on the assist train. Plus defilemancer is perfectly fine for solo/duo queues.
But you're correct that there are still zero viable mage PvP dps builds that do not include 25 pyro for 5/5 spark.
Just to head off the inevitable: Chlorolock is not a dps build, nor is chlorodom.
with a 5vs5 team is would ALWAYS take a mage with us ... though not dpsing but as dominator.

Pvp server, Seastone. We don't do it as much as we used to, but we do it still.
Also I agree that chlorolock is not a full dps build, but I do FANTASTIC with my special chlorolock build, and if the opposing team is light on healing, I can be close to the top of the most important statistic in WFs, damage done... (I jest). However, with 48 points in lock, with full p40 gear, my dots are ticking anywhere from 100 to 300 per tick, depending on the dot. With Withering Vines, Life Leech, Dark Touch, Searing Vitality and Defile on a target, that is a lot of damage per second (500-1500) plus my added Draining Bolt, Ruin, Viod Bolts (NERF!!) and the occasional Stream of Reclamation, I still do decent dps (not pyro level, but decent), plus have the best survivability of any mage spec (maybe tied with chlorodom).
My spec is a great shard holder/runner spec also. What is my special spec you ask? 18/48/0 Chlorolock/Archon. With 5 stacks of Searing Vitality, self buffed I have 12.2k hp, and 18k with Shadowlife.
Oh and Bleedz, if you are still out there, you make me look like a noob when I play pyrodom (like the other night in Codex when you had Covergirl healing you) I would love to get a good 1v1 with you in my chlorolock spec though.

My DOTs were ticking for 70 to 100 on some targets as 51 Warlock. I have full P40 gear as well. I really doubt your DOTs were ticking for that much unless we're talking about Defile crits. I'm also not sure how speccing 18 points into Chloromancer buffs DOT damage.

I tried it. It's better, but it still feels gimpy. I honestly think DOTs just need a flat-out buff.

Warlock is pretty bad in it's own right, at the moment, but mages still have plenty of viable builds.

Are those "some targets" tank warriors? Depending on your target, your dots will tick for smaller to larger amounts, which is why I gave a range of 100-300. A high valor tank warrior is going to be getting it for the low end, and on squishier targets it will tick higher. Yes I am counting crits. But hell with a 45% crit rate, your dots are critting alot. Also dont forget the buff to Sac Life: Dmg. Much more uptime on that one now. My earlier statement is still truthfull and valid. A full rack of dots is still doing decent damage. A warlock is not meant to burn someone down fast, they are meant to wittle away at them while kiting and surviving, which with 18 in chloro, I do quite well. I see no problem with dots, and if they ever get buffed it will be OP. If anyone thinks Im wrong, please duel me in game (as long as you arent a healing cleric or chlorodom, my chlorolock spec stalemates vs them). I do lose from time to time, (vs epic warriors, NBs or MMs) but I win 90% of my 1v1s. And when I do lose, its not by much. Im not tooting my own horn, Im just showing that warlock is not broken.
Remember each soul combo has its place in the world. 51 pyro is great in a group situation, but bad 1v1. My chlorolock spec is great 1v1, 1v2 or 1v3, as long as there are no heals. When there are heals, chlorodom is the choice to drain them dry. Warlock is bad in a group situation, simply put. Dots get cleansed and splash heals counter any dot dmg. So in a group situation, the obvious thing to do is to not use warlock.
We need to focus more on the ACTUAL broken souls, such as necromancer and elementalist. You can't do anything with those souls.
