Warlock suggestion

As a suggestion to improve high purity warlock i suggest the following:

Add an additional clause to void decimation so that depending on how many death dots you have on the enemy your void bolt will deal additional aftershocks (aswell as deal more damage)

So basically the same as fireball applying combust stacks void bolt instead can instead (depending on how many dots you have on a target) deal decimation aftershock damage a bit like how life spells deal a percent of their damage afterwards (like ruin etc)


Lets presume a void bolt crit does 1.2k and the target has one DoT applied

1200 Void Bolt
50 Decimation
(1 round)

Lets presume the target has 3 DoT's applied

1200 Void Bolt
50 Decimation
50 Decimation
50 Decimation

Of course this effectively works as a direct buff to Void bolts damage but Warlocks do need a tiny buff to their burst damage capabilities and of course the class revolves around DoT management so why not make it so that its burst damage capability with its primary single target spell (Void Bolt) is directly related to how well it is using its DoT's in conjunction with its Primary attack.

Naturally as Dot's are cleansable so too is the extra damage that warlocks CAN wind up to.

Oh i use 50 as an example damage, it doesnt want to be too high just a bit. This would of course have to be tweaked a little bit.

Eh, personally I think warlock is in a good spot currently since it hybridizes well chloro, dom and pyro.
I would rather see focus towards the souls that are almost never used such as necro and elementalist.

Absolutely so would I but personally i would like to see high purity builds work better.

Hybrids are cool n all dont get me wrong but i believe if each soul can stand on its own then it will probably hybrid well.

Im just suggesting this because it will help 40 point warlock hybrids and definitely 51 point warlocks.

I don't mind any of these 51 builds getting a slight buff, but nothing to make it competitive with 38/28 or a well-played 36/30, since those builds take much more skill.

What your suggesting is basically increase Void Decimation until 51 Warlock becomes as viable as a hybrid?

Would be nice to see 51 pt specs compete with the 36/30 and 38/28, since it would also reduce complexity.

Basically thats what im suggesting, but instead of just taking the simple option of buffing the % on void decimation id rather see a more creative approach and have additional damage *spikes* from void bolts depending on the amount of DoT's on an enemy.

Just makes void bolt a bit more interesting visually at high purities and also provides a kind of "heads up" that you have TOO MANY DOTS on you if you keep seeing "VOID DECIMATION - 100" pop up you know?

I think an elegant and possibly easy solution would be to add a passive ability; the more points you put into a particular soul you start to drop your global cool down a little bit. You go 51 into a soul, you get 0.5 sec GCD reduction. Thus making other pure souls actually viable, and most importantly...NOT having to roll a pyro-whatever-anator to be viable as a dps mage.

Seriously, as much as I like pyro, im sick of it.

That's a pretty small tightrope to walk. Too big of a bump without a massive difficulty overhaul, and the current builds become pointless. Too small of a bump, and it's just wasted effort. Pure 51 builds are just too simple as they currently stand, unless people are genuinely interested in dumbing down the overall 'difficulty' of the mage class.

I'm writing from a PvE perspective here, since PvP has other factors to be considered aside from pure DPS.

Edit: I guess that's the long way of saying I agree.

All 51 lock needs to be competitive, 48 pt talent to make dots 1 second global. Change the lock crystal bonus for empowered darkness to also increase crit stike damage bonus on dots 30% when empowered darkness is being used.
