    Default PvP and Spellpower

    Hi all,

My Mage is currently rank 24 with 5 pieces of tier 2 and the rest tier 1 gear along with 2 purple and 4 blue pvp essences in my sigil. I have 1307 valor but only 1100 spellpower. I been looking at the pvp upgrades to come with higher ranks and it doesn't seem like a huge increase in spellpower at rank 40. So my question is it possible to get upwards of 2k spellpower w/o using raid gear or is it required to raid to get to that lvl of power?

I'll be honest I have strictly pvped at 50 so I am in the dark on alot of the pve gear. If there are useful pieces that aren't on the pvp vendors, could someone kindly list them? Thanks.

To reach 2k+ spell power in PvP you'll need to use PvE lessers in your core as well as consumables. Don't forget vengeance is the PvP spell power so when people refer to their spell power in a PvP context they usually include vengeance as it is effective SP. For consumables you'll have 200 from a power stone on your main hand, 60 vengeance from a wrath spike on your Offhand, 40 SP from a brightsurge, 20 from EI Cake. That's 320 SP from consumables alone. At rank 40 I believe I have 251 vengeance from all PvP gear so that's a total of 571 SP. I have about 1500 SP unbuffed in my Rank 40 gear + PA spell power. So that's how you reach 2k SP in PvP. You don't need PVE gear to reach that level of SP, in fact unless you have an Akylios Relic I think you'll have less SP than if you equipped PvP gear.

Seraph, thank you for the response. I have a couple questions for you.

Where can i get the EI cake?

Is the 200 from power stone from the PA fire tree? I've been putting all my points into the pvp (war) tree, should I respec and put them in fire first?

Also I've been using the 2h staff, is it better to use the pvp 1h and offhand?

    Thanks again.

EI cake is from FArclan, the powerstone is a 'pve' consumable that can be made by artificers, and tend to be extremely expensive, and 1 hand/off hand are better in the same tier, at least for PVE, I am afraid I dont honestly know for pvp, but would assume the same pattern

As previously mentioned, the 20SP cake is from Kelari Expedition or Farclan Faction depending if you're guardian or defiant. The powerstone is made from artificers via diamond crafted salvaging. The fire T2 PA contains Flaring Glyph which provides 120 SP for 2 hours for 1 Planar charge. It is essentially a weaker but free powerstone. They do not stack so if you plan on using a powerstone all the time in PvP don't bother with Flaring, but I'm cheap so I mostly only use Flaring Glyph to save myself some plat.

Main hand/off hand is much better for PvP because you can use both a powerstone and a wrath spike for 260SP whereas staffs can only use 1 powerstone for 200. It evens out eventually if you have a lot of PA since staffs require about 1/3 of the PA for the same amount of SP for MH/OH, but if you reach those levels you can always respec then. MH/OH also gives you more total endurance.

I don't really think you need PvE lessers to get more than 2k spellpower in pvp.
At rank 40, fully buffed, i have 2.1k SP ( 1950 ish SP + 220 vengeance ) without a single inch of PvE gear other than Flametalon ( the value includes every possible consumable around).
Just use the best clerics and mages best pvp essences and you'll be fine, without giving up valor.

This probably true. I forgot that I prioritize endurance over SP so a lot of my enchants don't give me SP. I use 11 endurance on my totem, 13 focus on my MH and wand, endurance and dodge on legs so my SP is a tad lower than most mages. Maximizing SP though you can use PvE lessers to get that extra 30 or so SP, but I also think its not worth the trade off for valor.
