Thread: Mage Bugs - 1.7 Clarification: I believe it's intended that all instant cast procs like that are supposed to be consumed with Opportunity. It may be an issue that is difficult to solve easily so left as is, but as far as I know, any instant cast proc + Opportunity = both procs consumed = intended (barring some future changes and what I've seen in previous bug threads and prior patch notes).
#291 Hey all,
Some small updates.
- Making some progress on the issue of Flame Jet not working in macros. No fixes just yet, but its in the works.
- It looks like Flame Jet canceling duels is fixed. If you run into it on PTS still, let me know.
Updates for the Chloro issues in PVP are still in the works. Unfortunately I don't have any info I can give out at the moment, but I will be sure to let everyone know as soon as I do.
These aren't pressing issues, but there are three things about the Elementalist's greater earth elemental that I think could use a peek.
For starters, if the pet's AoE taunt is set to autocast, it will always use this ability first when engaging a target. The problem seems to be that the pet casts the ability before it even gets into range of its target, so that it actually hits nothing and wastes the cooldown. It will always miss a stationary target in this manner (like if the mob is already attacking something else), but if it uses it on a target that's running towards you, the attack will manage to hit because the mob will have ran into its radius.
Second is simply the elemental's tooltip descriptions for its abilities. I know that pet taunts were adjusted a long while ago, but it seems to me that the abilities aren't taunts anymore. As in, they don't force the mob to attack the pet whatsoever, which is what the tooltip says. Instead, the abilities seem to just generate a significant amount of threat, which is what I think the tooltips should say.
And thirdly, when your pet has the Syngerize buff on it, whenever charge is transferred to the mage, it seems to generate a small amount of threat towards the mage as well. This becomes an issue when you send your pet in against multiple enemies, as any mob that isn't hit immediately by the pet will aggro onto the mage even if you haven't touched it. It's easy to reproduce, simply have a pet with Synergize run into a group and have it hit one of the mobs - you'll see the rest of them switch onto you. Whereas if the pet doesn't have Synergize, it can run into a group of mobs and they'll all stay on the pet because the mage built no threat towards them.
Like I said, minor things but I think they can be called bugs all the same! Thanks!
Posted this before but there wasn't much reply. Degeneration is ticking for 75 normal and 112 crit. This is on the boss practice dummy. The tooltip states 573 damage over 3 seconds. Should be an easy fix to adjust the damage as the tooltip states.

A minor bug that I saw a few times:
If you insta summon a pet while the Necromancer "Exhume" buff is up and you happen to have Warlock "Opportunity" at the same time, the cast will use up both buffs (it should only use Exhume i presume).
Why is the only disarm in all the mage souls on a 50 second cooldown when warriors have a silence on a 15 second cooldown, rogues have a silence on a 15 second cooldown, and clerics have a silence on a 30 second cooldown?
Not to mention warriors, clerics and rogues can all interrupt casts, and mages cannot interrupt melee instant attacks.
For that matter, why isn't there a disarm in our PA tree?
i'd like to report a bug. mages have no aoe instant attack at 35m to tag onslaught mobs on ei. can't contend with a rogue that comes in and jacks your mobs.

It appears that the Stormcaller talent Lightning Rod - that reduces pushback using AoE attacks doesn't seem to be working with abilities that aren't Stormcaller attacks. Tested with Nature's Fury and Fire Storm. Both received pushback when being attacked despite having 2/2 Lightning Rod talented. Forked Lightning and Lightning Storm are NOT affected by pushback however when specced into 2/2 Lightning Rod so that appears to be working.

I use an @mouseover macro for abilities like transmogrify and I noticed a bug where controlled opportunity will be applied to my actual current target instead of the secondary @mouseover target that I actually cast the CC ability on.
