somewhat similar chloro build. (steal a point from archmage for 3/3 endurance and wild abandon if you like).

    differences:
    - better for the group -- can actually heal them. usually worse for self (especially against purge groups).
    - entropic veil vs. defile for charge debate instead of soul purge vs. defile
    - loss of heal debuff hurts kb

anyway, both are fun specs. have fun!

this is my procedure when facing these guys as well. choke and darkfury to interrupt it while stacking on them.

Any mage seen firing a beam of any sort out of his staff is almost immediately CC'ed and interrupted to death. Without it, the build falls apart for me. With the 1.2 CC nerfs hurting warlock CC, it's doubly busted for me.

It's a good write up for people who enjoy warlocks in PVP though, so good on you for taking the time to post it. Thanks mate.
What is interrupting your Soul Purge? If you're standing there casting while melee is beating on you in group pvp you need to position yourself better and kite. If CC is interrupting you, well, you just said CC was nerfed ;) I've never had an issue of Soul Purge being repeatedly interrupted in group PvP. It has zero CD. If you are having troubles using it then you probably aren't doing something right.

This is a counter to casters period, and has nothing to do with not being able to channel Soul Purge. This applies to every single other spell.

Wasn't Gary Busey in a motorcycle accident?

In my eyes its really just soul purge and the healing debuff. necrosis just replaces some other DoT that I'd pick up from another soul. Its superior to the other ones but we don't live in a vacuum and you get other things with those other souls.

I'm not a grave rot guy. I rarely see people standing still.

I really like sac'ing my pets life for mana over my own though. I dig that spell. Really good 'quality of life' spell.

Defile... if you pop defile and then Soul Purge you will be out of charge very quickly. If you're in group PvP and the target runs away, my point wasn't that defile won't kill them, it's that for the next 16 seconds you are draining your charge and can't soul purge. How does changing targets change that?
what I was saying was that if you managed to chase away your target you still win because he's out of the picture. Now you assist another member of your group and burn down someone else faster. I have stacked the DoT's and soul purged as i've described and i find it works great.

Your entire post is full of invalid comments...
I'm not sure why my thoughts are invalid as it all comes from practical experience. I would duel you so that you could show me first hand but unfortunately while I am on the same server as you, i'm not the same level and even if I was I wouldn't be the same rank.

I can accept if that's your playstyle and the laser beams *are* cool as they can't be LoS's once they're going. Its a strong spec. I was just disagreeing with the tone you took with your other abilities. I disagree that its all ho-hum until you can cast soulpurge. I think soulpurge is the final nail in the coffin once you've set up the other stuff.

I guess to elaborate on the whole lynchpin thing:

specing into chloro gives you 6 *really* good things (at least). lifegiving veil, talented vile spores, stream of reclamation, ruin, bloom, insta-cast purge

specing into archon gives you 5 or 7 really good things. 11pts - searing vitality, shield, flowing sands, mana regen while casting, leeching flames. 16pts adds volcanic bomb and rock slide

specing into pyro gives you 6 really good things: INT bonus, cinderburst, internal charge (i think that's what its called), flicker, lower stun duration, and inferno if you take it to 18 (which i'd recommend)

specing into necro gives you 4 really good things: necrosis, healing debuff, %5 more DoT damage, and soul purge. I really like the mana from pet thing but lets be honest that's just a creature comfort. The debuff is ok but are you really going to use that mid-combat? Its an opener maybe and that's only if they don't respond fast enough as it'd be more beneficial to open with fear, wither, or choke. Its just that soul purge is so BAD-*** it makes it ok. You also end up with points spent that do nothing for you unless you go deep enough for a pet which just drive me nuts (that's a personal thing).

to each their own and I commend you for taking the time to write about what is working so well for you.

I time it for the soul purge, that's the difference.

    I agree with akeldama.

honestly andorenial the damage and healing from soul purge is superior. Also entropic veil is not a very efficient use of charge in my opinion. %19 extra damage is a big boost but you have to step back and weigh it against how much damage defile, soul purge, or what-have you would do. Usually the spells that use charge do an amount of damage superior to the extra % you'd get out of something like that. entropic veil is good for chloromancers because the spells they have that suck charge are on pretty big timers.

I'm not going to get into a quote battle with you. I didn't realize you weren't even level 50, so most of your observations don't even apply here. You say the mana spell is useful. That's not used in PvP. Ever. Ever. You don't run out of mana. If I had known you weren't even 50 I wouldn't have taken the time to dissect your post.

I love the level 50 bias. tell me this magical change that is going to happen, please inform me. I'll start using different spells? My procedure is going to change? Certain spells will all of a sudden do more damage then others? My opponents are going to throw away all the spells and abilities i'm seeing now and start using wild and crazy abilities they accumulate in 4 levels? What about your spec? It seems to be the one warlock spec that maintains its effectiveness throughout all the brackets. congratulations!

The only difference will be the gear and that's it. There's nothing I can do about it but suck it up or devote more time to playing so I can get out of the lower prestige ranks. It'll be a period where I get to refine my technique until i'm more equally geared.

Take a look at this setup.

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1z...0Akqqeo.hMes.x

Get rid of Necro because you're using it only for soul purge basically. Use your Mortality and Shadow Life from Warlock.

Archon gives you shield plus other goodies.

Also, with your opportunity procs use Pillaging Stone to keep the stats boost up which in turn will increase your SP and SC.

Anyways, tell me what you think. You'd be suprised.

I guess I will, but don't act haughty about pvp knowledge pre-50 when you're touting a spec that hasn't fundamentally changed since level 16. Honestly if soulpurge is your key to victory swap your spec out for war/nec /Pyro. You'll still have one CC breaker like you already do and instant cinderblasts will send your charge screaming up in just one GCD. The big decision will be warlock armor or Pyro armor but I'd lean Pyro as more instant cinderblasts mean more full charge bars

Yeah, in a warlock/pyro setup I choose pyro shield for cinder burst procs. Having that with Opportunity to proc cinder burst as well, you can get massive burst damage if lucky enough.
