    Default Best Variations of DPS

SO I'm fairly new to the Mage game. I've played cleric to the top, warrior, rogue a good ways but I'd never touched mage till recently. Now my mage is 30 and I'm working my way up to 50 and while my Necro/lock build works well for leveling I am curious the variations of builds on which is best for what. Are they all fairly balanced to do good DPS or is one better than others at one thing or another? like.. is pyromancer built all around single target while storm caller AOE etc.. I just wanted to get a feel for what builds do the best for which situations.. I appreciate your time and thanks :")

Stormcaller/Elementalist does the most damage both single-target and aoe.

Chloro's can solo heal t2's, so healing is an option as well.

Full archon can put out decent dps (600-900+ single target dps, depending) while massively buffing the party/raid.

There are other options of course but these are pretty much the main ones.

Thanks Capri Moon, so Stormcaller/Elementalist is topping all the charts over pyro and necro builds too? hmmm do you mind linking me some builds for the 3 you mentioned? I have a chloro build but I bet I messed it up lol .. so could you link the builds you're talking about? the stormcaller/elementalist, Archon build (51 point? and what with it?) and yer fav Chloro build that you can heal dingeons with .. thanks

A standard 32/34 SC/Ele (might be a few movable points, but its fairly set in stone):
    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1zyqz.VMxx0xcsbo.Vtcz0xoAuz

Chloro can go several different ways, for 5 mans, combining chloro with archon is awesome for the buffs they bring to the party. However those buffs dont stack with other archons and you'll want 1 51 point archon in your raid, so chloro/warlock is your best bet there.

    Generic chloro/lock:

I left the build unfinished because from there, your chloro points are pretty much a preferance. Some people like call of spring, though the increase doesn't effect heals through life giving veil, only heals like bloom, flourish, heals from trinkets, and withering vine. Some people like points in phytogenesis for any kind of aoe pull, raised in nature for some good health is always good too... you can see where im going with this :P

    Chloro/Archon:
    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1z...c..hResRf0okMz

Again, left unfinished on the chloro side for the same reason as above, of course, some points in archon are preferances too, and Im sure someone will argue against something i put in one of these builds.

    Chloro/Archon/Lock (24/32/10):

Take the build above, and instead of putting those 10 points into chloro, put them into warlock for the increased charge gain and opportunity. You lose some of the nice points in chloro, but your normal healing should be largely unaffected, and you gain back opportunity which will increase your hps.

Finally, 51 archon is largely self explanitory. Since you have to fill the entire archon tree, there is no real variation on that part of the build. Where you spend the other 15 is the question, the most common points i've seen in that situation has been 6 into pyromancer for ground of power, and 9 into dominator for the increased INT.

Edit: For future reference, you should try giving these forums a search for questions like these, a lot of its been answered and some people will get butt hurt when you clog their forums asking questions that have been answered before.

Also, check out bluedot's site, its an amazing referance for mages, the dude puts a ton of work into this game for our benefit. :P

Well, the sc/ele build pretty much requires being level 50 for a lot of its functionality, so its hard to come up with a build there. It's also pretty widely accepted that necro/lock is the best build for leveling, and he does cover that in one of his guides.

Though you can probably get by quite fine with just about any build while leveling, so its not really a huge deal.
