Building Convictions - Timer Based <--- Sad Cleric (Tank Especially)

As a Cleric tank I feel it is unfortunate that we cannot do a combo such as:

Bolt of Judgment
SH/Any instant cast ability that generates a Conviction

and always end up with 2 Convictions. It may be an issue with my timing but I cannot consistently gain 2 Convictions at the same time other than a crit which gives us 2 due to a talent.

This is not actually affecting my tanking but it's a bit of an annoyance.

Does anybody else notice this or feel the same way?

There is a 1 sec internal GCD on convictions

Try this:

SH/LV/any other instant-cast instant-hit Light-based spell
Bolt of Radiance

Like above poster said, Conviction has a 1sec internal cooldown. SH and other related spells are instant-hit, meaning they generate Conviction instantly. BoR is a projectile, meaning that Conviction is generated as it hits the mob. As such, if you cast BoR and then cast an instant-hit spell, they'll hit the mob at the same time--meaning that you'll only get one Conviction, due to its 1sec ICD; but, if you cast the instant-hit spell before BoR, there will be enough time between the two to generate two Convictions, due to the instant hit of the first one and the travel time of the second.

Hmmm good call on that combo. I ended up just hitting an instant as I ran in flailing my arms all over the place and spinning around in circles casting DoL which seems to work out well.

Sanction Heretic also grants two convictions, one on first hit, then another one on first tick. You can do SH/instant/DoL and you'll get an additional conviction during the DoL.

The SH still follows the same mechanics due to first tick hitting 1s after the initial hit. That gives it enough time to generate the second.

This is why you never want to follow SH with a conviction building ability. I personally have SH at the top of my macro with PoR right after it. This way I can open single target with SH > PoR > DoL.

One of my tank specs is 51/9 puri/6 inquis. For ranged I use Soul Rupture, as it does the same as Sanction Heretic in that it gives 2 convictions, the only difference is that it has a 2 second cast. If you are ranged tanking something, it is very easy to stay at max convictions between SH and SR.

tbh, any tank build without 3 shaman is a bad idea. You lose a lot of mitigation by not having those 3 points in shaman.

I would be that person, and at no point is Druid a good choice for any tank build. 3 Shaman will always be best with 6 Inq second and 7 Puri third.
