See you all in Wildstar!
what i never understood is, why people are asking for warrior competitive builds on range. i as warrior would not have a problem with a rogue beating me in the dps charts as melee.
but when rogues do better range dps than a warrior can in melee, i begin to think its unfair. melees always have the disadvantages of frequent disconnects to the target, running after the boss (itu), getting cleaved, aoes around the bosses etc.
warriors do not have competitive ranged builds at all, so their melee builds are supposed to be a bit stronger than the ranged builds of other callings to maintain a fair balance.
i also have a level50 cleric, but to be fair, the cleric can do basically everything at its best in the game including high end raid tanking, support with DoL, and singletarget heals anyways with 3 trees dedicated to that. wouldnt really see a reason why clerics need to be on top of the dps chart as well. then you could just raid with 20 clerics, no need for anything else. why having 4 callings in the game?
I do play a cleric and highly enjoy the class because of all the different roles we can play. If the raid needs an MT/OT - I can do it. If the raid needs dps - I can do it. If the raid needs healing - I can definitely do that. Vargas has some very valid points and I made them in a very brief post earlier when I was in a hurry but look at the utilization we have already:
Tanking - We are valid MTs for raids (I usually give way to a warrior during casting heavy bosses) and can hold AOE aggro easily with DOL overhealing spam. I'm in T1 gear with a couple pieces of T2 and am at the 1081 block soft cap already and we get an additional % boost from BOR.
Healing - We are the best healers in the game whether for raids with our instant large heals from -icar builds or for single target healing with shielding and healing in purifier along with having AOE cleanse and a hot-like cleanse.
DPS - We have crazy good AOE damage in cabalist that can also offer trash clearing heals (which makes trash clearing so much quicker, I love my cabicar) and utilization with all of the sigils. We have valid ST dps specs with inquisitor for ranged and jolt-n-bolt and shaman for melee.
Hammerknell has already been cleared utilizing 20 clerics, no other class can do that and what would be the point of having anything but clerics if we had the best melee and ranged dps or could match everyone else? Simply put, no other class can do ALL of the critical roles in a raid like we can (granted we don't have a bard/archon type role) - why should we be the best or be able to match the best at all of it too? I enjoy the class and the roles we play and haven't had the burning desire to create an alt because of what we can do.
9/6 is extremely easy - Steelwinds rotation of 13/2 is not easy, nor is it 3 buttons and we also have 2 DoT's to manage. It's 6 buttons, plus charge btw.
I do agree that cast times in Melee is a pain and doesn't feel right, but to say it's more difficult cause you have to manage 2-3 DoT's is incorrect.
Hitme (W) - Byriel - Dark HorizonDarane (C) - Faeblight - Knights of Septoria
As for wanting a complicated/high dps spec.... just go roll a mage. Its not that difficult to start one. I highly doubt you'll want to stick with it though if you aren't already putting out very competitive dps on J&B.
moa 50% gogogogo
The one and only useful pure dps spec usable in ID is 51inq and still it's at least 300-400dps behind ranger rogues and even more behind mages. I'm healing more than ever in current meta (always been an offensive/supporting cleric), which isn't that bad thing considering it's a nice change for me, but really, cleric dps capabilites are **** now. I really hope Zinbik is planning something for 1.9.
