I run the Void Knight Thirsty Soulstone in this build, but that's because I often run with a pocket healer. I shield her, get a small shield for me. Saved me quite a few times. Now I debate between Heal-on-block for the other greater, and the Riftblade one. Think I might stay with HoB until I get the mirror.

Heal on Block can be a good thing. I do not have the mirror personally but I do use the Insanity Sliver, which is a little weaker but similar. In my experience these trinkets can have a huge effect on your survivability. They recently did a balance pass on all these trinkets, though, and I believe that now the Insanity Sliver/Arkyron's Mirror are in the same "tier" so they may have been balanced against each other.

I usually use my tanking sigil with this build which has heal on block essence and the +80 block rating essence, but sometimes I switch to my +crit sigil to push out some bigger numbers. I always use the Insanity Sliver, and rarely use a two-hander with this build - even though you can, and will probably eke out a bit more damage.

So, I'm watching the 1.8 changes closely right now. I'm pretty excited. Riftblade has lost Fiery Burst but they are supposed to be getting a new finisher to replace it.

But more importantly - at least right now - Enhanced Burst is going to give a bonus to all non-physical non-finisher attacks. That includes Tempest, Discharge, Ragestorm... Blood Fever, Soul Sickness, Necrotic Wounds... Sweeping Strikes... All of those juicy hybrid Riftblade/Tank options. Much more synergy. I'm thinking there may be builds now where abilities like Discharge are a real threat, and I really look forward to that.

It didn't lose Fiery Burst, it's duration is just 10s now, so you can mix in more SB/EB/new finisher.
    Hitme (W) - Byriel - Dark Horizon
Darane (C) - Faeblight - Knights of Septoria

EB already enhances the burst of all elemental finishers and non finishers on live. I see a slight increase in my pvp spec..200-400 on crits that translates to around 100-200 on full valor..the burst is still the king and that really didn't change much. Actually we are nowhere near old ragestorm where I feel we were slightly under powered then tbh. Hopefully we can get those 1.2k + ragestorms back on full valor.

IT DOES SEEM GOOD to new players but if you really think about it we are getting buffed back to the way we were several months ago with those abilities minus the cd reduction. The 51 point builds seem to be meh though..seems like rb/champ/xx will still be our go to spec. 38vk..is going to be too much of a dps loss like now and will even be more next patch IMO.

They need to fix VK in other ways to make those 38points worth it..either with adding more cc and reworking mana degen..reworking many of the obsolete abilities...and making it synergize with more souls. It is a great spec. Was awesome when they had the ragestorm builder..I mean it actually was much more fun when you could strategically time your burst. Probably was OP but still just much more fun back then..

Is this build dead in 1.8... I still have it but run 44rb/10rvr/12pal open world... haven't PVP'd since 1.8 hit... not much reason to when you're rank 40

Wondering if I should trash it. I see they reversed the FOF nerf but the immunity still remainds nerfed... not that I ran it fo rthe immunity... but when you cant do damage in the first place some protection is nice

Drop pts in VK, should be 32RB/26VK/8PL, works great... went 24-0 in last codex ( solo queue). It tears people up pretty hard. Riftstorm is fantastic coupled with Ragestorm and tempest.

I'm gonna switch my vk/champ spec back to vk/rb cause of riftstorm. And summoning someone back into the riftstorm would be fun.

I plan to use 2h with 0 pal in case I decided to do SnB loadequips.

ZAM still shows void base mitigation at 8%. It's actually 3% base, and 8% if you max out Devourer.
This is what I'm thinking will be best for pvp.

I screwed around with this build this weekend. It was still good, I completely dominated a rogue who got the drop on me. I also got involved in some infinitely long fights with a Chloro/Dom. It was a pretty good stalemate between us, and because of the two silences I was able to seriously harass him. He couldn't just ignore me.

I think that the build could use some tweaking, though, because of Rift Storm. It's just right there. Plus, Fusion of Flesh is not so great anymore. I feel bad losing Shock Burst, but you'd get Wind Spear.

I think that by hitting Rift Surge then following it with a Rift Storm as soon as you can... you should be able to finish off a lot of players and still maintain your survivability. I'm going to try this out soon and will post my results.

This is what I run when there are a slew of mages on the opposing team. Doms are still a PITA without LoS or a fear bomb to get rid of the splits, but a fork/windspear usually shuts them up long enough to get the mage in serious trouble.
