How to PA Farm as a Mage

I made a quick tutorial on my stream on how to PA farm. A lot of people say that mages can't farm nearly as quick or effectively as other callings and I disagree. With the changes in 1.8, mages have been significantly buffed in the farming aspect and hopefully this can convince people otherwise.

The spec I use:
25Pyro/28Storm/13Chloro

The only macro I use is a mouseover for Withering Vines which looks like:

Withering Vine, not Withering Vines or you'll get a can't cast error.

Made a few minor changes but overall kept the majority of it as is.

Use Withering Vine to pull everything, hit Burning Shield, wait for most everything to reach you. Once they all get to you, Radiant Spores, Flash Freeze, Forked Lightning x3, Lightning Field, Forked Lightning (enough to top off stacks of electrify), Lightning Field, finish off any ST with Flame Bolt, Ice Shear, and Raging Storm if needed.

Another thing to note is that you might as well use Internalize Charge from the pyro tree instead of Static Flux or Entropic Veil because it gives a solid +20% to all dmg not just one or two elements.

Also, here's the build I ended up using: 25 Pyro, 28 Storm, 13 Chloro

Went from ~1500 on dummies (only 3 targets) to well over 2k.

As far as survivability goes, Icy Vortex for dmg reduction followed by Flame Jet for an insta AoE knockback, turn and Flicker and then hit Ride The Wind for quick getaway.

Main rotation is now: Withering Vine - Radiant Spores - Flame Bolt - Flash Freeze - Forked Lightning x3 - Lightning Field

ST rotation is Flame Bolt - Icicle (if it's instant) - Ice Shear - Raging Storm
Alternate ST rotation is Flame Bolt - Thunderbolt x3 - Ice Shear - Icicle (if it's instant) - Raging Storm

Ive been more or less same spec for quite a while now, and i disagree on a HUGE thing you use in your video.

Withervines. Its instant and all that is nice and dandy, but you want your forked lightning, and Lightening field to proc Radiant spores self heal..

Withering vines will often steal that proc, and heal you for 100 ish, while spamming forked lightning and lightning field will net you a continuasly 1-1.5k self heal. Man ive farmed some nasty groups with that.

And with my 4piece chloro crystal, i get a proc chance of 26% even.

So imo - DITCH Withering vines from that farm spec, and i can tell you from using it for a long time, that its awsomesauce =)
And pull mobs with either forked ligntning right of the bat, or ice shear wich is instant and usally hits for 6-800 dmg. Which is nice for kiting =)

Hmm interesting comment about the RS ICD, I personally never noticed it but I'll take your word for it. I personally love the fluidity of having an instant cast Withering Vine so I'm hesitant to change that. Pulling the trio of Corrupted Spirits though with forked lightning is easier than spamming WV on each.

Have been using this spec for a long time now as well, and more or less agree with Kal.

Also, SF drains less charge than IC, so stick with SF.

there is one thing that withering vine does that forked lightning can't - proc your shields when you're casting. if you pull too much and you're taking alot of heat, its nice that withering vine is there to set up your shields for you.

love the spec btw seraph. definitely easier. i was hesitant to lose the endurance from raised in nature and the 10% mitigation from elementalist, but you definitely don't need it with this spec. only flaw i see from this is that you have no mana regen. i'm usually out after 2 rounds of the loop.

There is no ICD for Radiant Spores. It has the chance of procing on any damage you deal.

Rotation is exactly the same in the video description. Pull mobs with withering vine, once gathered cast radiant spores. Use forked lightning 3 times, use lightning field 2 times. Repeat until mob are dead. You don't really use any pyro abilities other than inferno to finish mobs off and firestorm for lazy mob farming.

in general how are you all farming PA?

i know the T2 and Warfront dailies are nice, and i guess the chronicle, but what else? are people just hitting up EI rifts? onslaughts? something else? my PA is REALLY low compared to most people from what i've found, and it'd be nice to try and get my PA up a bit more. feel like i'm slacking.

trying to figure out the fastest most efficient way to farm and any help would be great. thanks in advance!

Just killing mobs in EI. If you watch my vid I show you a place where you can farm. Instant Adventures are also good if you're undergeared or lazy.
