Since you're not really using any Pyro stuff, what about switching in Warlock?

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0z...zo.xx0V0VVo.-5

Needed to pull 1 point from SC (Storm Guard) to get the Warlock Armor, but I figure that it would be good as another proc to your greaters and trinket. This will also give you significantly more HP (Neddra's Strength/Might and Vitality), 5% crit, 12% damage, and possibly use Mortality as an "OH SHI!" spell. Not sure if the health gain will be more than just the normal spam rotation, though.

Someone mentioned running out of mana. Sac Life: Mana (followed by Bloom) after a fight should help that. You do lose the 1s GCD, but Opportunity procs may help offset that, making your Forked Lightning instant.

Sac Life: Damage could be used before your Withering Vine pulls to make them hit a little harder. I'm not sure if it affects the heal, though.

This mouseover macro is not working.

I know about the "Withering Vine" and not "Withering Vines" thing.

    I have it as:

    #show Withering Vine
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast @mouseover Withering Vine

And nothing, I mouseover all day and it does not cast. I even put it on key 2 as in your video.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

It's a preference between Pyro and Lock. As I said in my video, Lock is preferred if you're undergeared or need like the CDs Lock offers. I just like the 1 second GCD which means pulling with WV faster. I used Lock prior to 1.8 and it works just as fine.

The placement of the keybinding shouldn't matter, but I don't see any problems with the macro itself. Make sure not to instinctively type @mouseoverUI cause that will prevent the mouseover to work on mobs on the map. When you mouseover a mob it should light the target up with a faint orange glow.

I tried the warlock build, as I'm still somewhat under-geared, having mainly the first tier of PVP gear.

I tried and died quite a bit. I tried both pulling with withering vines, and just trying the Radiant spores pull. I'll try again as soon as I gear up some more.

At that gear level you probably won't be able to PA farm very effectively using this spec as this is pretty gear dependent. You might have to pull only 4 or so mobs at a time if you want to farm using this spec. I would recommend using Chloro/Lock or Necro/Chloro/Lock for farming until you get better gear.

    That.

I used a chlorowarlock spec to basicly do the same before patch 1.8, and because of corrosion I can chainpull up to 12 mobs without dying because of constant shield procs. As seraph said, you cant really do damage while moving, so you want to bunch up as much as possible before you aoe them down.

Funny to see somebody came up with a totally different build doing the same route with overall the same dps. I pulled more n aoed slower with devouring shadows, you pull less but aoe down faster with forkedlightning.

I have 1380sp and 35% crit and was having difficulty with this spec. Think I'll try the chloro lock. Or go back to my ele/chloro/dom Thumper.

the standard Chloro/storm is still superior for farming.

    How so?

You get more survivability with more Chloro points, but if that isn't an issue then there's no real point. You don't get much more dps from more SC either, as Spark pretty much achieves that, especially with FL+LF spam. It ups the ST dps as well whenever that is needed.

In this instance gear dependent means having a specific Source Core with Frozen Deep One Tear and Hailstone Tideshard for shielding procs. Token of Warding and Rank 8 PvP gear also help for additional survivability.
Also most people discussing this will be sitting at 1600+ sp and 1000+ crit completely unbuffed. Though those stats only help you grind slightly faster as they don't affect survivability much.

Well you kinda said it, if you have 1600+sp you can afford to swap out rings to cleric tanking rings, or pvp gear. Make a sigil with more endurance. So you having better gear can definitly add to survivability. When i grinded at talos landing before patch, I had around 9500hp.

I really like this spec. Makes grinding so much faster. I wasn't a big fan of the necro/lock grind spec because it was a bit complicated. On the other hand, this sc/chloro spec is simple and efficient. I absolutely recommend this spec over any other mage grinding specs currently out. Thumbs up.

Well, I am not that well equipped on my mage twink (1400sp, 32% crit), and I'm having serious troubles with the build.

It's fine as long as you do AoE normal monsters. But when it comes to soloing elite mobs, you get in serious troubles there, since the heal is - even with the shields - insufficient. Secondly, I've true troubles with mana, and have to drink quite often. I've tried it by using warlock instead of pyro, which was slightly better in survivability and mana, but a bit worse considering the damage.

Well u just need 13 points in chloro, why on earth would u waste so much in stormcaller ur just reducing your own survivability AND dps..

But i guess you know that because you arent giving any arguments ;P

This makes me want to try my just-hit-50 farming spec from way back before RS got nerfed.

    51 sc + 15 chloro....
