Using the Razer Naga, works great. It's buttons along with ctrl and a few macros and everything is set.

I have a naga so I set the naga to use the number pad and basically set up the 3 extra action bars above the main one to correspond to those keys then use the main one for stuff I can't fit. For example in that pic I'm tanking. I have my dps macros, utility abilities (like interrupt, break free, etc.) and mana recovery all on the naga and have my taunts and brez (which I don't need to use much) on the main action bar 1-3.
The 3 top action bars are basically set up like this:
num3 num6 num9 num+
num2 num5 num8 num-
num1 num4 num7 num0
Then as you can see I put my buffs on the right side of those action bars, comsumables on the right side of the main action bar and misc. stuff on the left two.
The naga takes some getting used to but it's great once you do. I know I'll never go back.
Yeah unless you want to use mouse over macros for cleansing and spot heals which, trust me, makes it a lot easier than doing it any other way.
Yeah, just get a Naga. I hated mine at first, now I'm not sure how I'd game without it. I had modifier keys (Shift, Alt, etc.) so it works really well for me to set my mouse to my number pad like a few other posters had mentioned. Totally worth the investment.![]()

Farewell, Rift! Perhaps we'll meet again.

Ok yeah, nevermind my Naga Razer comment, I need one to put more bound keys. Shift and alt do not feel comfortable enough for me

Who needs swag when we will be in melee shredding you apart with Harbinger.
I'll happily use a naga or similar when they produce a left handed version ;-)
I tried and had good success with using the number pad on a standard keyboard, but hitting the number lock key can be somewhat suicidal.
I'll post a SS when I get home and log on
since I'm a chick and have somewhat small hands, I find the numbers to be too annoying to reach (especially when I use ctrl and shift a lot and I'm one of those spacebarhappy bunnyhopping clerics >.>). My healing keybinds are z-m, a-j, and t,y, with several modifiers for other abilities. the only #s i use are 1-3 (damaging abilities, I don't use them often :P) and keep the alt+# as the default 'raid marking' tool. Several of the healing keybinds are mouseoverui macros, others (most of the aoe heals) are not.
I use a similar a-z patern for my other toons but nothing has as many keybinds as my cleric, so i get away with not even needing numbers on most of them.
I only keybind W, Q, and E for movement, but I probably could unbind them since I have mousewheel set to autorun toggle and 4/5 as strafe (L/R).
I found myself in a similar situation some months ago and was also concerned about changing my bindings completely and finding myself lost.
Whatever you decide to do keybind/mouse wise, I would suggest introducing only one or two new binds at a time. Once you get used to them, introduce a couple more. It doesn't take long to master a couple of new binds, so you'll soon sort out a set-up that you're happy with.
First and foremost: Do what is comforitable to you. I have tried all the wierd combos of keybinds over the years and no matter how much I try it just does not feel natural to me. Having said that I use I logitech (can't remember the model number, but you can change the wieghts to) mouse that has 6 buttons that I use. I have 4 bars that are arranged two side by side at the center bottom of screen.
-1-6 is bottom left bar for main abilities
-Top left bar is Shift 1-6 is for finishers if palying a class that has them. If not I put cooldowns or the next most important abilities.
-Bottom right bar is Ctrl 1-6 has control abilities like snares, interupts, siliences.
-Top right bar is Alt 1-6 has situational abilites that are not used on a regular bases.
With the rest of the room on those bars I just fill with misc. stuff like mounts, vials, and drinks. I love it this way and it works just fine for me. I can click through stuff just as fast as anyone else. I also use macros when I can. It really helps limit the clutter.
Like I said it really matters what is the best and most comforitable for you there are lots of ways that work. what is the saying..."There is more than one way to skin a cat."
"I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." So we can say with confidence, "The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear..." Hebrews 13: 5-6
First things first, I have a Razer Naga, so my UI reflects upon it.
Mine doesn't really follow any logic except that it's split up in parts.

I'm at work so I can't post mine at the moment but I gotta ask does your guys' 9, 0, - and = work? I'm on my second Naga and those buttons have never worked on either...
So I just use 1-8 along with shift, CTRL, alt modifiers. I use z and x for strafe right and left, a for autorun, c for tab and shift-c for tab friendly. I think that's it.
If you have slightly bigger hands:

I found the Naga buttons too close together. So I use this for my main stuff, and NUM for my skills.

Wow, all these Naga users. Too many thumb buttons for me.
You can do fine with a fairly standard setup -- I just use an ergonomic keyboard and Razer DeathAdder and have enough binds. At the very least, I recommend taking a logical approach to keybinds. Know which keys you can effectively reach and which fingers are more suited to quickly hit certain keybinds.
I have 1-6, shift 1-6, ctrl 1-6, tilde, R, T, F, Z, X (and shift for all of them), caps lock, mouse wheel and two thumb buttons (with shift modifiers). I can add ctrl modifiers to anything that doesn't already have one for additional keys if needed (and it doesn't take too long to get used to, though I'm already used to most of my keybinds). I place frequently used abilities within reach of index, middle and ring fingers. This works for me, depends on personal preference. I only click buffs and gear macros (which are all on 7 through =) and temporary abilities.
But again, it's personal preference.
I use a Deathadder as well; I've bound the two mouse buttons it has to Ctrl and Alt respectively.
I use 1-4 Q E F T Z X C V as they are all within a 4-key square on the keyboard. That's up to 36 keybinds which are all relatively easy to click and that has been plenty for me. Anything non-crucial like buffs, role changes, items are all clicked on. I'm of the opinion that you should never have to move away from your movement keys to press an important ability.
(Naga intimidated me)
Naga (and again, my 9, 10, 11 and 12 keys don't work) took me a few hours to get accustomed to. Honestly, it was a piece of cake. And I'm 40...
