    Default Premade Class Combos?

Ok I want to like this game. I really want to like this game. So far everything about it is pretty good except the class combos. As a new player you log in and the game let's you pick premade classes that make things seem fairly simple, even telling you what abilities to use. First thing I noticed is how pretty much every web site says those premades suck. And you get new abilities that are useless, or are useful, or how do you know? I chose to make an Arbiter and first thing I notice is I have three or four heals available that all do the same thing. So I pick another cleric (thunderer) and get absolutely no heals. I was going to roll a necromancer premade but from everything I hear that build is terrible.

So with 5000 choices in each role there are only one or two that are viable? I'm greatly misunderstanding this or the system is just too complex for new players. Gameplay is fun, class choices and too many abilities sucks. Is there a guide for all this? I'm a casual player and I don't have hundreds of hours to devote to learning the ins and outs of all the class combos.

If you don't want to devote hundreds of hours for this game, the premade combos will suffice.

The premade souls are adequate for a fair amount of open-world content and will certainly suffice in Expert dungeons and tier 1 raid instances.

There should be a fair number of guides for various classes in the class-specific guide section. You may want to ask for a reference to one of the compendium-type guides that lists multiple specs with macros.

You'll run into this quite a bit depending on your soul combinations. If you have 2-3 abilities that basically do the same thing, make sure you just use the one that you'll be improving through your soul trees (you'll have to do some looking at your trees for that and figure out where you're gonna put points). Oh and make dang sure they are exactly the same before you decided to stop using one. Same mana, same cast time, same heal value, same cooldown.

Most classes I've played, there were at least a few abilities that were redundant and didn't need to be on my hotbars.

Yeah, it can be daunting. You will have to devote some time to learning about the souls.

But you'll learn them very quickly, and then you'll appreciate the system. And for levelling, it really doesn't matter if they're good or not.
