    Default Whats is the most OP class currenty or in the near future?

    Okay so i haven't played Rift in a solid 6 months and i was pretty happy with my paladin.

    Long story short ive decided to start up again, but on a totally new character, so my question is: What is the most overpowered class in the game right now, or in the near future?

    I pretty much want a character i can just blast my way to 50 and have a great time destroying anything and everything. Oh and i wont play a rogue btw.

    Meh, dont feel too bad. Im just looking for a new class to get me back into the swing of this game. Just trying to have some fun is all Duracell Cleric is looking pretty beast right now by the way! Also because of all the new upcoming content is mainly the reason im starting playing again.

    I'm gonna say mage for everything, unless you want to tank, then warrior, unless you need to tank Prince Dolin, then mage.

    Until 1.7 hits, I'm still saying anything caster and you should be good.

    Currently it's rather easy to chose a class:

    Melee DPS single target -> Warrior
    Melee DPS AoE -> Warrior
    Tank -> Warrior
    Ranged DPS single target -> Mage
    Ranged DPS AoE -> Mage or Cleric
    Heal AoE -> Cleric or Mage
    Heal single target -> Cleric or Mage
    Support offensive -> Mage
    Support defensive -> Rogue
    Utility (as in interrupt and/or purge) -> Rogue

    So...
    Warrior of you want to tank or deal damage in close combat, single target and AoE is perfect.
    (really good at 3 things)
    Mage if you want to deal damage single target or AoE and like to heal your group or the tank and want to be really good in supporting your groupmembers offensively.
    (really good at 5 things)
    Cleric if you want to AoE as a caster or want to heal your allies or the tank.
    (really good at 3 things)
    Rogue if you want to bard or play marksman to interrupt and/or pruge stuff.
    (really good at 2 things)

    Don't forget you usually only need 1-2 tanks, 1 bard, 1 archon, 1 utility-char per raid, so choose wisely.

    I don't know about you guys, but when it comes to the term "OP" I always think in terms of pvp, not pve.

    The most OP class (imo) is the one played by an intelligent, ruthless and cunning player, who is smart enough to bring a pocket healer (or use other players as living shields) and who knows how to benefit the most from each situation. Being rank 8 helps a lot, too.

    You stated you don't want to play Rogue so that narrows the choice down.

    You started a new Cleric and and the previous class you played and enjoyed was a Paladin so guessing you like Healing and Tanking.

    Warriors have been the best Tank and don't see that changing, however they have no roles as Healer.
    Clerics have always been the best Healers and I don't see that changing.
    But if you want to both Tank and Heal then I would suggest Cleric as they are the only class with both Heal and Tank roles. In fact Clerics are the only class with Heal, Tank and DPS roles.

    Of course as one poster mentioned, if you are really set in being able to tank Prince Dolin and your only goal is to tank that one specific encounter then yes, pick a Mage.
