Again I think Kelari Frenzy is the culprit, not the whole system. People are flocking to that ability in particular. If it had a 20 minute cooldown instead I really don't think people would choose their faction based on it.

The solution for this is quite simple, eliminate racial abilities, maybe it could turn into Tactics as Warhammer, 3 slot to take on different levels would be nice (maybe lvl 15,30, 50) and this would be for all the same![]()
yeah sure is an issue now i tried out a defiant and had a wait time of something like 8 mins but on my gurdian it was insta join
whether its down to the racials i dont suppose we ould prove 100% but maybe a poll could work to see if a massive majority choose there race because of the racial ability.
Peronally i stick to aesthetics but thats just me hehe (although ofc some racials do help a fair amount in class decisions for me)
No, my point is that if there is a major reason to choose a specific faction, people will.
The major reason for the majority of people, is the overwhelmingly good Defiant racials.
You think Dwarf is good? 30% heal over 6 sec? Eth have a 25% shield. When you're almost dead, that shield is better than the Dwarf racial. Dwarf have more endurance? Eth have more EVERYTHING.
Bahmi when they get a lot of SP/AP will be quite good. Kelari are really gross from day one.
The Mathosians can easily be killed through their racial as all it does is heal half incoming . . .
High Elf racial is best for rogues (though not super) and maybe clerics (who rarely have mana issues anyway) as mages seldom miss out on charge, and their charge-based abilities tend to be "middling" anyway. Power for the VAST majority of warriors is no real issue.
I am not disagreeing with you, but I see no reason why the suggested changes would be bad in any way.
What precisely would be wrong with having offensive and defensive abilities for each race that are roughly equivalent (i.e. either mirror or do a lot more thinking on what racials mean) . . . ?
yeah i think you may have conviced me tbh people in general probably do chose who they are going to play for the racial abilities so may need balancing out more.
Though i personally chose my toons for aesthetics and lore
If they're in a pool and people choose them, then they're not racial abilities.
For practical reasons I know it would be a good idea to either give players a choice, or to make them identical between factions. The only reason I'm arguing the point at all is that I think there's a sad lack of racial/faction flavour already.
Again my opinion may not be practical, but I think there are ways of balancing these abilities out while retaining one of the few things that make races in Telara unique.
just disable racials in pvp, takes care of all the problems
Some people would still argue their value in raids. People have already brought up raiding in this thread.
I don't really care about their raiding or pvp balance, but removing racial abilities from any section of the game would be removing an interesting characterization concept, which is a step in the wrong direction.
Kelari just look the best simple as that...
I think if we had 2 slots to Fill for our racials and we got to fill them in with any of the existing racials (possibly more, for diversity) then the unbalance would drift away, if you want a dwarf dps class, you shouldn't be knocked effectiveness in dealing damage because the dwarf race comes with a defensive racial.
I think allowing people to choose their "traits" as part of the character creation process would fit nicely, if you plan on dealing damage, pick offensive traits, if you plan on tanking damage, pick defensive traits, if you want a mix, as you plan to multispec into different roles, pick 1 defensive trait and 1 offensive trait.
Respecing these traits could also be implemented as they wouldn't be bound to the race.
I wrote a long post on this the other day on the beta forums, which are closed now sadly.
I agree with the blogger wholeheartedly, the idea of giving everyone 2 actives(one def, one off) is a decent one. Not that we need more keybinds :P
Racials are suppose to reflect the race, hence the name. Clearly Dwarves are seen as the small and sturdy race, being naturally tougher than most and so Trion gave them increased endurance and the ability to regenerate themselves. The Eth are technological masters and as such they use technology in their racial abilities.
I don't know much about all the races, but presumably the Kelari/Bahmi are suppose to be aggresive or barbaric races and thats why they are very offensive focused. While the Mathosians are a just race of protectors and defenders with a great faith, hence their racials...
Flavour is cool Trion, but remember its a game and a genre where min/maxing is a huge part of peoples gameplay. Please balance the racials for the good of the game![]()
