Is WoW dropping pet taming with Cataclysm ???

I too, would be disappointed if it was a summon vs. tame. I like the idea of individual style and personality being reflected in your pet.

In dark age of camelot, the Druid class had three different kinds of summons that were functionally very similar, but each at slightly unique abilities, a Wolf, Bear or ...erm...tree. At first it was random which one you got when summoning, but eventually they split it up into different spells.

It allowed druids to pick and choose what pet they wanted.

In WoW, , even when you "tame" your pet, you still summon it. And revive it.

We don't know how pets are going to work. Maybe you can still rename your pet. Who knows.
