Will the QQ ever end?

As long as there's PvP involved inside an MMORPG, I'm afraid not. PvP is supposed to be a test of skill rather than class choice or how long you've been playing. Until these silly developers can get that right, there's always going to be people complaining on the forums (and rightfully so, as paying customers).

And yet rather than learning to adapt and thus become more skillful you'd rather excercise your skills in yelling at developers until you get your way...

This is exactly it. I don't like being the rock (cleric) to someone elses paper (Dom), but that's the way it is. Furthermore, that's the way it should be and I get to laugh when the Dom is utterly destroyed by a rogue.

That doesn't mean that some classes may need a minor adjustment. But there's nothing in Rift so OP as to be legitimately compared to Bright Wizards from WAR.

This is really valid and tbh, I would rather see them screw game balance for months than give the whiners a sense that they're achieving something. Champ needs nerf? Buff champ. Mages suck? Nerf those suckers.

Look, I know you weren't being entirely serious, and I completely empathize with the contempt you feel when someone gets pwned in pvp and comes here and makes whiny nerf request that's short on logic and long on bad grammar, but there's a legitimate conversation to have about class balance, and having it doesn't diminish the game in any way. All MMO's work to achieve the best class balance they can.

Whiners will whine; always have, always will. At the same time, there are some tweaks to the game that will make it more fun. I don't mean homogenization either; that's always the danger of balancing is making classes too similar. But there is some stuff that's a bit out of whack - Archons and Warlords, to give an example I mentioned recently. Mentioning the deficiencies of those souls doesn't make one an adolescent QQ'er, and responding to all complaints with just 'ltp' pretty much puts one on the same level as the whiners.

QQ is bad -always- bad in -any- multiplayer/competitive game. The QQ will never end, but it's always just downright terrible at release. It usually gets better after the terrible (QQ) players have moved on...and people have actually had time to learn the game.

Only Archons are allowed to QQ. Yes, I have one. No, I don't think they're that bad. But if anyone has a right to QQ about anything in Rift, it's the three people who main Archons for any involvement in PvP.

Yeah there's always going to be ppl stomping their feet cryin into their blankies. Hell my wife's 26 and does it every day. The game is good how it is. Everyone get to 50, get all the lil achievements and titles n stuff THEN lets change the game around. Till then I'll be choppin heads and lovin it.

Actually, it is partly serious. A few months of poor balance in exchange for removal of forum 'movements' that result in a class being rebalanced due to nothing more than a persuasive argument from someone with a vested interest in seeing that class either buffed or nerfed. The thing is that these things can and do affect dev decisions if the QQ is loud enough, so people tend to just scream loudly at every opportunity. If they were shown that it doesn't work, they might **** for a change.

Alternatively, like I said, restrict it to one thread in each forum, instead of.... every single thread. Really. Every thread is a class balance whine, and it turns off new players when all they see is 'QQ X is OP', followed by 'QQ Y is OP'. They think the devs have no idea how to balance a game, when the reality is that too many children are too used to getting their way if they cry loud enough and embarrass their parents. The few threads that are begun with legitimate intentions, like people asking 'should I play class x or class y' are basically just bait for the whiners to jump in and say 'X is sooo underpowered, play Y for sure!'.

A few days into live and I'm already embarrassed to post in one of these histrionic drama queens' threads about 'balance' with a rational post, because I'll be agreeing with the hyperbole from one side or the other.

Sorry but I have seen MMOs with decent communities. There were still complains etc...but nothing like this.

To the OP...I will ask you one question. Did the whining ever stopped in Blizzard forums? Yea now consider what people this community is unfortunately comprised of.

It's a game with PvP. I have never seen any game with serious PvP where the majority of forum discussion didn't turn into balance complaints.

Or because it had ridiculous hardware requirements and pretty much no end game content.

But I agree, balance patches are necessary, though these take time. For now, I'd be happy to hear from devs about their thoughts regarding balance, faction imbalances, general plans for the near future in terms of soul tree adjustments, etc. Communication was superb before the release and I'm hopeful it'll continue.

That nonsense aside, this is why people hate the WoW comparisons. Instead of letting the game be its own they want it to be like WoW. If it's not like WoW then its bad. WoW spawned a huge population of whiners and complainers. Unfourtunatly those jerks are here to stay because the internet is the voice of .

I remember when I beta'ed Shadow Bane. Granted the game failed, I remember asked how do I set the game up to play like EQ. The first person told me this is not EQ so don't expect it to be the same. So I left the game. I didn't go to the forums saying it was terrible and EQ was so much better. I just didn't play it and the people spoke for them selves when it went F2P and eventualy dead.

I just wish the community wasn't so volatile. Why everyone is a noob or an idiot because they didn't know something or made a mistake. I guess what I am saying is QQ, whatever the flip that meens.
