    Default Low Level IA Update

    Just to summarize some of the current threads and provide responses...


    Teleports - Yes, there appears to be an issue with the teleports sometimes not working when first joining IA. This has been oddly difficult to repro, and we are still investigating.


    Rewards at 50 - It appears I misspoke previously. The rewards for a level 50 are supposed to be the same for mentored IA as it is for the previous level 50 IA. Unfortunately, the actual set-up did not quite match that intent. The difference currently is that for all IA, you have a chance for a reward that is constant between both old and new IA. In old IA, this reward is always Sourcestone. In new IA, this reward is split between chances for Sourcestone and a random piece of gear. The gear is intended for leveling characters to replace what they would otherwise get from questing. For a level 50, this gear is not useful - and effectively just cut their reward rate of ISS in half.

    That was not and still is not the intent. We have already made changes to this internally that are being tested. This change will make it so that any character level 48+ will get an ISS instead of a random green item whenever that loot roll comes up, effectively returning their ISS reward rate to what it always should have been.


    PA Experience - The XP rate for leveling characters is obviously pretty high, but it seems a bit underwhelming for for level 50 characters. Values for bonus PA experience for level 50 characters is being adjusted now, and will be pushed out as soon as we can.


    Non-Mentored IA Queuing - This one is a bit more vague because we are still debating how we want to proceed. The top line summary is that we aren't happy yet with the current system and want to refine it further. It is completely legitimate that a level 50 player would want to play IA and not be mentored for a whole variety of reasons. To force that player to travel out to a specific zone to do so... kind of diminishes the "Instant" part of "Instant Adventure". So we are still working on this one, but it'll take a bit longer as we balance against issues like fragmentation of the IA player base across too many zone groups and also the needs of what IA will be like post-expansion.

    So, while I sadly don't have concrete solution to announce yet, I just wanted to acknowledge that the complaint is not just heard, but that I completely agree.


    Anyway, I know the above are some of the biggest feedback generators still out there. Auto-Mentor levels have already been raised and went Live. Other minor issues will continue to be polished as time permits (like the FM potato quests involving too much just standing around :P ). More leveling IA content already in development!

    Thanks for the post. It's always great to hear from the devs on anything, and this addresses a lot of the qualms I have with PA.

    If you could just fix the ISS problem, thats all I really care about, I need thosands of them and have no use for that green gear. Please fix this with some time left before the exspansion, I would be very grateful, if this could be so. I want to get the ISS gear before its obsolete. Thank you for working on this.

    I believe the plan is to send out this change soon in a hotfix. I will follow up on the status of it in the morning.

    Is it just me or was the ability to choose the zone you are in for IA removed? or is it a sneaky bug? tried today in Freemarch, Shimmersand and Stillmoor. I tried mentoring down first for freemarch also. The only option was to join random adventure no matter what zone I was in

    Since you're still looking at these, is there a patch coming soon to fix the Boss kill achievements in Freemarch and Stonefield? Many bosses (ie. Void Fied Xalos) do not give kill credit. I'm guessing this is mostly because we technically don't kill them, just defeat them. Then they despawn.

    I would appreciate it if the IA regarding killing dreadbone(?) trogs in stonefield was changed.

    There appears to be 3 of them in the whole area, asking a raid of 10 people to kill ~16 of them is kinda ridiculous and tends to be a raid killer.

    YES! I hate that quest. Mostly everyone just runs around searching and searching, aggroing every mob in sight except for the trogs....

    That should be fixed as of last week's hot patch.

    Thanks for the heads up on this one! It looks like a key bit of scripting for this one had some incorrect data. I got a fix in and tested for it already. Not sure if I made it in for the next hot patch, but if not that one, then the one after.

    It's not. Was doing them yesterday and was not getting credit. I don't remember the name of the boss but it was actually one we killed and it didn't give credit upon his death.

    What about the ISS hotfix thing? Is it in the next hotfix and when is that?

    My particular dislike right now is the being thrown from one IA Zone to another Zone's group. The most common circumstance this occurs seems to be from Freemarch to Stonefield.

    Frustrating as it throws you out of a perfectly fine group into one that most times has one or two members - I've only had one time that I've run a Stonefield instant adventure with more than 5 members in the group.

    I've never been for example in an Ember Isle group and found myself suddenly taken to Stillmoor.

    Plesse, dev also consider the mana & health pool scaling when reset level after mentoring IA. It only scale down, but never scale back. In considering a warrior tank with 18k hp to do IA in silverwood, it will be down to 2k hp. There is 16k hp missing after reset. For nature regenerating, that take over 5 mins. I know this is a mentoring system problem., but it sometimes need to take a lot drinks for recovering in short time, bcs there are zone events also. It is disencouraging and annoying.

    This is exactly why Rift is so great. You not only have great and timely responses by devs to the issues, but they also admit sometimes they want things changed and agree with people.. I have yet to see another game that is as good as this one with support issues. Thanks youTacitus!
