Look, bottom line is that zone events need to pop regardless of population and in all area. Trion just needs to rotate them or pop multiple events (more than 3) to make people choose which ones they really want to go to.

I don't know if any of you guys played the game before they put in this limit on the zone events but the basic problem was that everyone complained when the invasion took over their town and they couldn't turn in quests and they couldn't kill the mobs off fast enough. You ended up with entire towns over run and lowbies logging off because it was impossible for them to do anything.
yes i recall that was fun
a simple work around for this would be to add a timmer to rift mobs to despawn after X time
That's why you have:
1) The since-added "burning out" debuff which makes footholds and the mobs guarding them easier and easier to kill the longer it is since the zone event ended.
2) Mentoring, bringing high level players to the zone so that there will be people to fight the zone event.
3) Scaling of zone event difficulty but not frequency with population.

Wouldn't getting rid of some of the shards help. I was looking at Rift Watch (btw great site) and there are only 10 shards out of 16 with enough players to sustain an adventure or invasion. Out of the 10 shards with action only 7 really have enough to have a good game. With less shards to choose from players might not hop around so often taking whole guilds with them. Sorry if this solution seems asinine but this is the first I have even known about all this shard hopping trouble. I was just playing along happily and then everyone was gone.
The only solution to most of these problems is time and growth. As the game expands and adds NEW characters to pursue these shortages will become less frequent. The Developers must keep creating NEW characters as well when expanding the game. If not the game will become stagnate. As the game stands now the majority of players have two goals. Get to Level 50 and raid. These are not enough to sustain the game and add healthy growth. More incentives and I mean really really good incentives need to be added to meet Achievements at level 1 thru 20. Players are just flying thru without looking at achievements. They look back at level 50 and then want to complete them.
Guilds are to easily uprooted. They have no pride in their shard at all. They need some incentive to stay put and stop ruining the game by hopping all about like nuts.
-make players want to complete achievements early in the game.
-give guilds something they can't live without to stay put in their shard. A super PERK
-developers add characters to keep people playing in the level one to 20 area.
-loose 5 shards to make the others fill up. Then expand.
These ideas are for the long term betterment and game quality of Rift. Nothing happens overnight. Nothing happens without your ideas.

hmm still no reply from dev on this was kinda hoping for some feedback![]()
Our Guild AOA finally moved from Briarcliff to Faeblight this past Tue Night. I did seven events yesterday and all were completed. In the past 4 weeks on Briarcliff I had not completed 1 event because they all failed. We would have stayed on the Briarcliff shard if someone had addressed this problem of low population.
I suggest that you just bite the Bullet and move.

moving is not an option for me and tbh nor should it be
i have been on argent since the server launched back in the beta, i have build a great deal of friends there and am part of the top raiding guild on defiant side, there is no way the guild will move
but tbh why should anyone have to move servers to be able to gain low end achievements like this, if its a population issue then trion should look at merging servers
else find a solution so ALL players on ALL servers have a good chance to complete the achievements when there is noone in the areas to trigger events
making an event timmer would solve this and would really like trion to look into this, even more so some feedback from a dev even if to say "sry this is somthing we will not look into"
tbh this is the only real bad thing i have to say about trion, they dont reply to the vast majority of posts made by the members and as a result alot of concerns go un-answdered, imo they should take more time to reply to posts on the forum
on the flip side of that comment the in-game support is second to none, and trion should be prasied for the good work there, if u put a ticket in a GM replys to you in-chat normally within a few hours, i say ask the GM to spend 1hr a day looking through the forums replying to things like this
I was on the 1.9 PTS just now, and Greed in the Gorge (major zone event in Scarlet Gorge) popped, despite there being no-one in the zone (at least, no Defiants). Moreover, the PTS was mostly deserted (fewer than 10 level 50s online) since there wasn't an organised playtest going on, yet there were actually three zone events going on at once.
Which bodes well.

Being a lvl 50 and trying to get the zone achievements it irritates me when I have done a good part of the running around to miss the main Boss because of people downing the boss in 10 sec. If I am the only 50 around I always hang back with the dps to let the lower levels get a hit in.
The bosses need a 2 minute immune bubble or if you have been part of the event you get the achievement.
Another thing, it seems the same zone events happen all the time and some never seem to pop.
There does appear to have been an increase in the frequency of low-level zone events which I do view as a positive thing. However, for all the work you might put in completing objectives, you will not get the achievement unless you tag the final boss.
This was frustrating on the high-level bosses where they did die quickly and you often missed out however these occurred with a high frequency and so it wasn't quite that bad. With the lower level zone events now, you have 50s trying to get their achievements and the bosses are dying even faster.
Today I was doing a Scarlet Gorge zone event only to have four level 50 players (non-mentored down) nuke the final boss before a good number of players had arrived, including myself. Whether this is just ignorance on their part or pure self-centred selfishness I care not.
It is extremely frustrating and whilst taking part in a zone event it should not be a gamble to gain the achievement. Rift tracks your contribution to the zone event and ties your final rewards to this. Tie the achievement in too because it took a tremendous amount of willpower to hold my tongue and stop myself raging at the four players who nuked the last boss.
Instead I came here to try and write a semi-coherent, sensible and expletive free post. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

PvE/PvP Character - Katketty (Level 50 High Elf Rogue) <Crucio Sanctorum>
This happens in the lv50 zones as well though!!(missing the endboss, since its dead so soon).
But indeed low lv zone events need so rethink. I know it was awsome when I leveled up(from pre-start). The massive amounts of events were great! Though I think tutoring is in place for this now, and we must see how this work out

This is actually why I'm not coming back to the game although I'm tempted to. I'm a completionist and knowing that I wouldn't be able to do many zone events because of a lack of population (especially with expansion coming out) leaves me uninterested. People tend to flock to an area when an event does pop from what I remember when I played in the past, so they should start making zone events pop automatically if populations are small in a zone. It will at least give people like me hope I can get all the achievements and even if the pop is low at first people will likely go to the zone for the event anyway.
...or you could just move to a more populated server.
