Ok, I know I'm just the victim of terrible RNG, but probably upwards of 700 EI IA's and no sight. Anyone who's killed it remember by chance how the IA string starts?![]()

I got that one a while back, if memory serves its given during the chain around Toppled Coast, the IA right before it was poisoning the beetles with the tainted meat. Not sure if this has any effect but i was in a fairly large raid of about 15-18 people.
good luck mate.
Thanks, that's a start! Unfortunately I'm almost always doing these solo, so hope it's not some weird requirement to be in a certain size IA. But I've definitely never had to poison beetles before which makes me feel a little better than I might not have left an IA before he popped :P
Missing the same one here, over 600 EI IAs but never this one.. badly programmed from Trion
I remember that one. I do remember killing ogre's right before heading over to the area where the beetles are. Sorry don't remember the name of the IAs before the beetle ones.
Rogue - For the <Bracken>!!!!
It seems to be somewhat random. But after 700 or so IAs in EI I get the feeling that the follow-up IA quest are at least partly determined by where the people in the IA are currently on the map.
I just spent the entire past week trying to get this quest to finish my achievement. 1,500 IAs this past week + 142 IAs from the week before. That's 1,642 total EI IAs, and I've *NEVER* seen it.
From what I can tell, IAs absolutely will NOT to take you to the beach with the elites unless you're in a group of at least 15 (heck, it might even be 16) players, and the only way to get the Giant Planetouched Beetle quest is from having an IA chain end in that area. And I feel I can say with confidence that ending an IA chain next to the beetles outside of Ember Watch can never give you the quest either, it's solely a generic water elemental boss unrelated to achievements that can spawn in many, many places.
I play Defiant on Wolfsbane, which is a really populated server IMHO. Of all those 1,642 IAs, I saw quests on the beach area under a dozen times. Of those, only two actually ended chains on the beach itself, while the others all tended to jump back up to killing cyclops in Gilded Strand. The first one that ended a chain on the beach ended with killing Sea Wasps, and the IA chain just straight up ended with no boss or onslaught -- the only time I've ever witnessed that. The second one ended on that same quest, but followed up with a Plane Touched Sea Wasp quest, one I didn't even know existed because it's not even part of the achievement!
I really have no idea why there's such a high player requirement when the mobs in the area have group (5) quests to kill them, especially considering two of the IA quests (shrines and poisoning beetles) don't even require killing them, and could easily be done solo! But it makes it where even on a well populated server you have 0 chance of getting this outside of prime time or during a zone event when a dozen people accidentally join the IA group. I don't even know how you'd get it on a low population one... paying people to do IAs with you for hours on end for the infinitesimally small chance of the quest happening?
After wasting a week on this annoying achievement I'm just glad I'm not PA capped already, seeing as it gave me a good excuse to grind 170 PA in a single week... =\
@Mandarb
I don't think it has anything to do with where people in the IA are on the map, as I've finished IAs by myself while the rest of the raid is doing a zone event on the other side of the map, and the next quest is still near me. What I think it is, is it can randomly be another quest adjacent to the current quest, provided the raid qualifies for it. Meaning you can have a quest to kill Stalkers in Temple of Marakris branch up into the beach to kill Sea Wasps if your raid has at least 3 full groups of people, likewise, the quest to kill Ogres in Gilded Strand can branch down into the beach to kill Beetles. Then once you finish the quest to kill either a boss or defend a sourcewell, the IA chain ends and it picks a new random quest from the entire map.

Roughly 600-700 and never seen it either. You are not alone. Its a myth.
I forgot to get a pic, but I just asked GM_Link about this in-game and he told me the requirement for the Giant Planetouched Beetle is going to be removed from the achievement.
Although I would've preferred a change to make it where I could actually get the quest to kill it, I guess I'll take that!![]()

Sry for doublepost but in case anybody's still crazy enough to try to get it, I finally got it after 2,307 Instant Adventures.
The chain went: Cyclops > Ogres > Poison the Beetles (17 people in IA) > Death Rift in Toppled Coast (19 people in IA) > Giant Planetouched Beetle (19 people in IA)
Looking at it more, I think the requirement might actually be 17 people. At least 15 definitely seemed to never go over there.

Does anyone know if anything has changed with 1.9 for the beetle spawn?
