Let me start off by saying that artifact collecting had me hooked on day one when I started playing Rift about 6 months ago and saw the 300 set Ghost reward. I was intent on finishing sets and chasing rewards/titles. They are one of the few unique things to Rift and I am sorry to say that they are being grossly neglected along with many achievement rewards and titles. The lucky coin vendor and the 300 set achieve have not been updated in around 8 months, since before I even started playing just to toss out a couple examples.

I have seen Dead Simon post in this section like once I believe. I understand there are many areas of rift game play that need serious attention from the team to push raid content and PVP at the moment, but it seems to me if you even had 1 sole member of your team consistently working on well thought out, decent useful Artifact/Achieve rewards for people to chase you would keep A Lot more players around than you would imagine. Another beneficial side effect to making artifacts desirable again would be increased AH activity as sales have taken a dump due to new ways of obtaining/lack of interest. It would be wise to use the minimal time and manpower it would take in picking up the slack in these areas to cater to the large portion of the player-base that don't /aren't able to raid or pvp as well as those who hunt when not raiding.

I am one of those people that can not raid atm due to RL and time constraints, the only reason I log into Rift anymore is to burn a rare artifact lure every 6 hours trying to find the last 7 whites i need for Ultimate angler in pure hopes that eventually an appropriate award and title will be tagged to it, like Ultimate hunter. I know tons of people who took one look at how much time UA would take with NO reward and a redundant title and never touched a pole, If a useful reward and decent title would have been in place I bet most of them would even be fishing right now instead of playing other new games just released that have stolen their attention. I also understand some people like to fish just to fish and they couldn't be happier, that's great more power to ya no need to flame. I on the other hand am not one of these people, I chase rewards, its how I play the game and enjoy it, don't knock me for suggesting easy improvements. I also know for a Fact that Many other people play for this same reason and these are the subs that are easily savable at this point. I guess what this rant is basically tryin to convey is.....

World second Ultimate Angler reporting in, and yes I agree - it's very disappointing. "Angler" prefix. Woo.

I also have every artifact set in the game completed. One of the most difficult ones, the Infernal Dawn set, complete with a relic artifact mentioning none other than maelforge himself, rewards you with a crown of laethys.

Crown of Laethys you say, well, it must be interesting. In reality, a couple of low polygon count "coins" circle your head for about 5 minutes. That's it.

I would've been happier with a title, or making my eyes turn into fire and giving me a crown similar to "marked by the light".

I am glad you agree Sarah, and you bring up a prime example of another poor afterthought reward.. I mean at the moment that ID set is probly toughest/most expensive to complete. The amount of time it took to come up with and model some low poly coins that float over your head had to be Very minimal, and its almost a slap in the face to people who choose to make artifacts and reward/title chasing a huge part of why they play.

I've mentioned before, these types of really hard to acquire sets and achievements should be used by Trion to show off some imaginative and innovative rewards, things that people would see in-game and be like "Holy crap that thing you have... Its, Amazing, How can I get one!" I will give props where deserved, the item pack of squirrels is most likely the closest they have gotten to a pretty cool unique reward, with actual use and shock value! (Have a bunch of squirrels gnaw your face off an get the KB in PVP.. you cant tell me their morale is intact after that) I as well as many others I'm sure, would like to see more cool stuff of this nature, things with some actual thought put into them.

Once again I will reiterate how compelled lots of people are with shiny things. More than half the people I know or have met so far in Rift are this way, and were so stoked as was I, to have something different and unique to work at. I saw so much potential of the whole artifact system early on, but alas it has been on the back burner ever since, never attaining the grand fruition of my minds eye.. I just want it to be what it could be...Incredible.

If its possible for one person as myself to imagine better rewards and to realize that the current ones are pretty weak and not near on par for work to attain, I see no excuse why a compilation of devs or even one dev with this section being their area of expertise or what they were assigned to, couldn't come up with as good or better. This is merely a case of the ball being dropped in this area of the game and it is a shame for everyone as well as Trion, because I really believe they would make a lot more people happy than they currently estimate if they put just a bit more/different manpower into it.

To any Dev that happens upon this post, please take a second to actually consider the logic behind it. Thanks! ;)

5 stars for this post. I agree 100% I have many coins left over and wish to spend some on something worth showing off. After beta I ended up buying the image item for 50 lucky coins.....wow that was a mistake.....I was severely pissed off when I activated it. Ugly as hell and didn't have any extra benifits, like once activated you could use to visit the guardian/ defiant strongholds. Just a plain old/ severely sorry image that looked like it was cut and pasted from something out of NWN old graphics.

I truly hope they add better rewards as mentioned in this thread and give us some serious fluff for the artifact rewards

I completely agree with the OP post. They do need to work on this side of the game, and not just focus on PvP and Raids. I understand this is a major part of the game - and with the competition on the market at the moment, I can see why they would be pushing for grand content such as that. But, they can't neglect the smaller things either.

These days I struggle to find a reason to bother with Rift, since I'm not into raiding. I just don't have the patience.

The lucky coin vendor items suck.

I use campfire kit, wand of the green thumb, and glowing sourcestone. The rest I threw in the bank.

Rewards from sets, and zone completions are better: Form of the Howler, Form of the Antiquarian, every Teleport Device, pet Skia and others.

Sheeping wand is probably the best thing of all. Not being able to use it in Warfronts anymore sucks. I felt like an OP mage for awhile.

Fishing rewards suck, too. A bunch of frog pets. Boring.

Amazingly Rare artifact item cooldown is way too long. How are we supposed to troll with this kind of setup? Get with it.

Look at what other games give players as rewards for less work.

A new fast mount that isn't a member of the tartagon family would be wonderful!
For example a dragon mount (non-flying), perhaps a fire-breathing mini-Maelforge?

Im one of those players that love achievements and artifacts. I had somethign like 80 coins and was waitinf for something other then the turtle but it never came. I got soo tired of waiting that i bought alot of pets. We need costume armor for artifacts.

Didn't see anything mentioned on the PTS yet for anything new really concerning rewards/artifacts/luckycoin items. All I've seen is the new infernal raptor that Elrar had from ID conqueror...

How bout some Purple Text action from the devs above to touch on when we actually will be seeing anything new??

Or are we screwed till Storm legion?
