    Default Noobie Question on Rifts

    Hi all,
I'm very new to the world of Rift. I'm only level 3 and just moving from the starting area to Ardenburgh doing some basic quests as a warrior. So my question is, when do I start seeing the rifts showing up on the main map? I've been in the game for a few hours so far and I don't see any rifts showing yet on the map, or I don't see any notificaton of any in chat... Is that because I need to be a certain level in order to see them? or or do I have to be in a higher level to see them? and my final question is, what level do I need to be at in order to participate in them? All noob questions I know

    Thanks in advance!

    Default Welcome!

You have to get out of the starting area before you will encounter any Rifts, which i believe is about level 7.Don't worry they go quick and as soon as you are out of the starting area you will be able to participate in closing rifts.Good Luck!

Thanks GrymmReaver for the info. So they won't even show up on the maps I take it when one is in a starting area?....Hopefully there will be at least a couple of rifts per day.

Not until you get out of the sarting area as they use that playtime to get you basically familiar with the mechanics and the Lore.Once you get out of the starting area you can close Rifts to your hearts content and it is even possible to level doing nothing but Rifts if you so choose.Use your time in the starting areas to get familiar with your toon and then go Rift hunting.

The first rift you will play and defeat is the one that will teleport you from the starting area to the rest of Telara. You are in for quite a ride

Once you enter the main world, there will be Rifts going on all the time. Minor rifts, major rifts, crafting rifts, raid rifts. I forget how many can be active in one zone at any given time, but it's something like 20 or 25.

There are loads more when Invasions start too.

Thanks everyone for your replies. So I did do the first RIFT which was part of that quest that teleports you out of the starting area, but now that I'm out of the starting area, I'm in a new part of the world, but I still don't see the rifts everyone is talking about. I do see a periodic zone events(I guess that's what they are called) in differents parts of the world, but so far that's it. I haven't seen any actual rifts yet except for the intial one that was part of the quest. I guess there suppose to be a green type of icon on your map when a rift is occuring? I'm at level 8 currently. Perhaps I have to move to another area before I start seeing the rifts?
You guys are all awesome, thanks!

The rifts are color-coded according to the planar type, so they won't just be green (life), but red (fire) or gold (earth) or white (air) or purple (death) or blue (water).

There may be short periods where a zone won't have any rifts, but probably your issue is that you do not have your map opened up yet. Until you have been through an area, the fog will not be lifted for you to be able to see rifts and invasions and landmarks on the map.

On your mini map, just make sure Rifts are ticked.
(It's the button at the top of the little map.)

Also sometimes if you're zoomed in too far on the main map (M), you won't see them. Zone out a little bit.

    Oh and, have fun.

You have to uncover areas in the world map by visitng them in order to see Rifts that spawn in those areas. Also you need to zoom in enough for them to be visible. Look for a coloured swirling vortex sort of icon.
Gear and power items in the cash shop was my dealbreaker. It was a fun 2 years.

Thanks! Now I'm finally seeing the rifts .....One other question, if you see where it says, Rift (levels 7-8), does that mean that you cannot participate in the rift if you are higher level then that?...... I tried a couple of rifts at level 8 and found it difficult to stay alive at that level because there were so many things attacking me at one time.

You can participate in any rift, no matter the level, as long as you are able to reach it.

Just to let you know, only mobs of your level - 7 will give you experience and count for most quests (at least the ones that don't specify a specific mob). For example, if you are level 20, only mobs of level 13 and above will give experience. However, even a level 50 can run around Silverwood and clear rifts and invasions (unfortunately! ). They just won't get the drops and experience.

What shard are you from Rallicknom? If you are playing on a regular subscription account and you're on a really low population shard, I suggest you take the free transfer option when you get to level 15.
Faeblight, Wolfsbane, Greybriar are the 3 highest pop pve shards and Seastone is the PVP equivalent.
