Thread: Killing "Rares" system is Flawed and stupid

    I'm perfectly fine with Ultimate Hunter being exactly as it currently stands.

    I very much dislike breaking it up into micro-achivements for zones, so I have to hunt down many enemies that might not even be around until a server restart, just to get the 'you did everything this zone directly offers you!' achievement.

    Keep your Ultimate Hunter. It's fine. But don't make me do it. That's why I proposed the "Hunter" Catagory in Achievements . It would also allow a better UI organization once more zones get introduced.


    And the artifact ones I 'headcanon' away as finding rare trinkets in the common market. I don't see how confusing that is for you. Many of them I'm paying 5+ plat for, which is a pretty penny for a leveling character.

    FYI The rares in EI count towards the kill achieve as long as you get a hit in even if you don't have the 'tag'

    For the zone achies only, there's only one zone where you have to include a rare that might take some finding, that being IPP, the others have enough of pretty common/easy enough rares to get the number for the meta.

    Moonshade is likely to take some effort too. It comes down to needing Razorfang, Nytami, or Aelfwar, none of which are particularly common, on average.

    That said, this entire thread is a syptom of the whiny gamers that exist today. Gamers who lack patience and a sense of accomplishment in doing something challenging, regardless of reward. Shameful.

    As long as they make Rift invasioins/mobs not kill the rare mobs as they spawn, I'd be a happy camper

    Moonshade is likely to take some effort too. It comes down to needing Razorfang, Nytami, or Aelfwar, none of which are particularly common, on average.

    I'd thought of MH, and Razorfang, but I've never had a problem with him. Seen him loads and told people where to find him on several occasions to find out later they got him shortly after.

    I also thought of SM, where you need all of them, but again I never found any of the SM rares to be any issue. The zones which have the real rare ones all have enough without them, other than IPP where you will require one, but then IPP rares are all quite rare.

    It's not patience. People reading my posts will know I'm absolutely about the journey (first 50 took nearly 2 months, and another 1-2 months to get into expert gear, I did all quests everywhere, and every dungeon at least a few times, aiming for the dungeon achievments and getting as many as possible, etc).

    This is not challenging - it is tedious. I have a hunt mark on my list and I have no idea whatsoever where it is (no vague hint given, no nothing). So I...wander the zone. This is horrible enough on a max speed mount, let alone a Lv 1 mount. And even then I'm taking the risk that the mob isn't even *there*.

    It is tedious, and when I have over 25-30 hours a week just at school, and another 12+ just for homework (forget me even if I had a part time job), this stuff isn't going to get done for several months. And it's not even going to be enjoyable when I get the achieve. I'm very very sure I'm not alone here. You have the time to do it - that's fine. Most don't, and won't ever see this through even if they really wanted to.

    A nerf I'd love is if:
    -there were small hints somewhere (NOT a quest tracker direct reference point) of where they are
    -they don't die to planar mobs
    -they reset within a few hours, not server resets etc. There may be several people gunning for this mob, but ooops they have to wait for a server reset and forget about it.

    However, Trion doesn't even need to do this. They can simply add a Hunter category for Achievements and I'll be GLAD to put time into it ... after I'm done the rest of the zone achievements.

    I like the rare mob system exactly the way it is...with the exception that it'd be nice if planar mobs didn't aggro the rares

    i'm 8 mobs short on my achievement, and i've spent about a million hours looking for the ones i've gotten so far...i don't mind spending an assload more time getting the last 8, it gives me something to do, and gives me an excuse to farm ore and artifacts from the different zones (and guardians)

    I don't really mind the hunting in itself, and you're right about the revisiting the zones . I just hate it being part of a one achievement. Reminds me of the time when by the time you get the planar currency for zone planar gear, you've already outleveled the zone by far. By the time you get the artifacts and rare monsters in a zone, you've already done every single achivement long, long ago -_-.
