It's obvious that despite so MANY people talking about their own horror stories with addons in WoW, that you don't believe a damn word from any of them. You keep saying addons don't cause problems it's people, etc, but given the atrocious incidents that occured in WoW you're STILL willing to take the chance everything could go to hell. Way to support the community there.

It would help if A) anti-addon folks didn't take a trip into hyperbole-land about three words into every anti-addon diatribe/post and B) you guys valued the concept of personal responsibility a bit more. He's right, the addons themselves don't cause problems, its the people using them that can. Its really just a difference in perspective - I didn't see any instances of atrocious incidents that you can lay at the feet of addons. People acted badly on occasion, but not the addons.

Truth is, I have advocated for months about what could happen if Trion allowed the use addons..I've campaigned AGAINST them for months, explaining how the crutches end up screwing people royally. No one seems to either agree / believe so there's really only one way people are going to understand it.

As I said, his argument is:

1. Science can lead to bad things.
2. Therefore science must be banned.
3. I don't care about good things, only bad things.
4. Since you have not banned science, I am building a dirty nuke in my basement to prove that you were wrong.

He spent months presenting arguments that he has now shown us were all lies. He never cared what happened to the alleged people who were, he claims, "screwed royally". No, he wants them to be screwed. He is not willing to risk the possibility that addons will exist without those people being screwed. He cares more about looking like he was right than about those people.

So all those arguments? Lies. Self-aggrandizement, propaganda, and attempts to obfuscate the truth.

Do you know how GearScore communicated between users? There is no way that Rift will be able to differ this (aside from individual AddOn packets - which would be insecure). GearScore communicated via an AddOn channel (/-1) that only AddOns could access.

This part isn't so; there were easy ways to implement something like gearscore without the horrible flooding.

And really, gearscore's model wasn't necessarily "secure" either.

Some kind of Garbage autp delete. where you can set if to delete all grey items as well as certain named items. Like Mana Pots on a Rogue

Altaholic - To see and manage items on your alts. Like does any of my alts need X Artifact? Who knows which recipes as well as bank management.

Auctioneer.

Gearscore - At least to see how you gear is and how much an item may improve it.


Things not needed

Quest location addons like Carbonite and Quest Helper. 99% of quest and mobs are easily found. With the exception being a few named ones like Durnes.

Gearscore for others to see someones gearscore, or at least for the GS addon to no broadcast your stats.

I promise you, if it is possible to do such an addon, I will have one probably in the first day.

Quartz or some sort of Casting bar add-on: I would love to be able to detach the enemy casting bar from the target frame and move/scale it up.

Well, helping any addon. There were two problems with GS. One was social, one was technical. Improving things so the technical problem wasn't a problem would make life better for everyone.
