I've been wanting to RP in a game like this for awhile. It's been awhile since I did any roleplay and I miss it. Maybe Rift will help me, since everyone's starting with a new slate and it looks like Faeblight will be fertile ground for open RP.

I planned on rolling two characters, a Mathosian Rogue and an Eth Mage. The first to be a "main" while I use the second to explore the Defiant side of things. Hoping to grab Phoenix and Ash as names for them, but I've got backups in case they're taken.

I've been looking in the Guardian guilds here, looking for one that advertises the same sort of environment enjoy in another game (Eve Online, specifically the Electus Matari alliance there) where there's a strong focus on everything in the game be as in-character as possible while maintaining open OOC channels to help sort through the inevitable dramas and conflict. It's a place where some Serious Stuff™ can happen without really breaking the community, where the players are laid back and flexible when it counts and willing to stick to their principles, IC and OOC, when it matters. Bound By Blood caught my attention as one Guardian guild that seemed to be attempting to create something like this here, but I guess I'll see how it goes.

Also, a place where vent isn't required would be nice. I can't use VoIP since I'm mostly deaf IRL, but that's usually not much of a concern in RP guilds, I would think, unless there was a major pvp or raiding focus.

Any tips for playing a believable Guardian rogue or should I make it up as I go along since we're all just starting out here anyways?

Question A Few Server Questions Answered

Hi, All!

I've seen a few questions floating around about the servers and I wanted to take a few minutes to get you some answers.

Can you make a characters from both factions on the same server?

Yes. There are no limits on this.

Is that the whole list of servers?

This is the Head Start list of servers. More servers of various types will be opened as needed. Watch for announcements here and on Twitter and Facebook as we open them.

Can each shard only hold 1500 players?

I keep seeing references to a dev saying that each sever would only hold 1500 people. The actual quote was from a very old IRC chat where one of our devs was talking about numbers for that current beta as the servers were opened. We do not release specific numbers about our servers. But we saw higher numbers with each beta and the same thing applies to release. The 1500 rumor is false.

I didn't get the names I wanted. They vanished pretty damn fast. Instead, chose Patches (Guardian) and Ayriana (Defiant).

Really? Then why are servers like Faeblight always full with 1+ hour waits. Sounds like a cap was hit to me.
