Faeblight Progression Thread

Good. I think the progression thread should be divorced from community politics myself.

I don't think it is that they are new specifically. I would like to think most Faeblighters would not be so closed minded as to go after a guild just because they are new. I don't even think it is the entire guild either. I have however seen a few of the guild members partaking in completely idiotic and juvenile pissing matches in lvl chat. Like many I an not glued to level chat and often catch the match mid stream. A Capt. Of mine told me something when I was a rookie; "if you start yelling at an idiot and someone walks into the room half way in, that new person can't tell who the idiot is."

Because of this when you are the new person, as the unknown quantity you will rarely be given the benefot of doubt. We have to remember when you move to a new town, you need to take into account the "rules" of that town. I applaud the Guild Leader for his honesty and attitude but no guild is a monolith and I suspect the problem lies, as with most guilds if we are honest, with a minority of guild members who relish confrontation in lvl chat. They aren't alone in this, many guilds have these people. Where they are different is that they are new to the server so have little to no support base in the community at large atm.

First I would say that Inixia does not deal with in game politics, the rules for being on this thread have been the same since launch. I am sure it was just miscommunication and she thought NG was leaving or already gone. Being Guardian she has to rely on second hand information from the Defiant side for this.

Second, while I personally have had to put many of the new server transfers on ignore for homophobic or racist remarks I do not delude myself into thinking that its an entire guild that feels this way just individuals. While I understand why the RP community would feel slighted, make sure you deal with it on an individual basis and not bias against the whole guild.

I have seen several of the guild leaders from the transfers post on our forums that if there is an issue with a member if we let them know they will deal with it. I thought those posts were a good way to deal with a problem, although personally i just put them all on ignore.

That being said, even if the ENTIRE guild are jerks . . . if they are on the shard progression is progression and their attitudes should have nothing to do with it.

edit2: I have went ahead and retired some of the T1 content in the guild summary in the opening post- the reason for this is most of the content is noncurrent/dated (most active guilds have updates beyond it), and there is not much item incentive in them, so as a result raiding guilds have a tendency to skip or pug them. It also makes things just a bit easier to keep view and edit. I HAVE backed up the thread content before the change though, so if it is an issue, please do speak up and I will revert it if that is the general response.

Inixia, I want to first apologize for bringing this up since your progression thread has been the venue for unneeded arguing in the past, but it is something I really need to say here in plain view of all guilds on Faeblight.

I was online last night and caught only part of the conversation in 50 chat, but it was said Negative Ghostriders was removed from the progression thread due to popular vote by the 'RP community' on the shard since 'the RP community has a lot of pull'. Regardless of if this is even remotely true or not, it sickens me to no end.

There is a stench of elitism on Faeblight and it's not coming from the progression guilds who just transfered in. It's coming from the so-called "shard veterans". The players who think they are owed something special just because they have been playing the game for a long time or have been on a shard longer than others.

People are allowed to pride themselves on something wether it be roleplaying, raid progression, or if they are just plain nice people to play with, but when those things are used to put other people down they are worthless. Everyone who judges needs to stop and look themselves in the mirror before they point out perceived flaws in others.

The reason Negative Ghostriders has mentioned leaving the shard is because certain elitest "shard veterans" have made it clear they are not welcome here. That is a damn shame and contrary to what Faeblight has stood for these past 16 months.

P.S.- My toon was born on Faeblight in closed beta 4 and although I did leave for a couple months to raid elsewhere, I have been on Faeblight long enough to see how people have changed here. People both old and new.

If you don't realize the stench was brought on primarily by a guild that has openly admitted to only being on the shard to poach/"recruit" , make fun of rpers for their own amusement and generally could care leas for Faeblight then you are blind or new fan boi trying for an in. NG has earned their reputation and treatment. They aren't leaving due to how they are treated they are leaving (hopefully soon) due to a slowing of recruitment. Elitism begets elitism which is exactly how they have portrayed themselves.

first of all its good to be back home, nice seeing a few familiar faces and some new ones.

Bottomline core team downed our ID content (mak, ituz, warboss) during our first week on shard, so 6/12 would be accurate.

so far Faeblight is turning out to be an excellent new home since millrush died, and we hope to continue to be a part of the community for a long time to come
