    Default 2.2 Parsing on PTS

The Dummy Foundry for parsing is now available on PTS. You can access the Dummy Foundry by clicking on the sparkling traps in Sanctum, Meridian and Tempest Bay (beside the portal). The dummies in there have raid buffs and debuffs on them to simulate parsing in an optimum raid setting.

For those of you who are keen on testing the upcoming changes for the individual callings, please follow these instructions.

    1) Set your Dungeon Difficulty to Master and enter the Dummy Foundry.
    2) Purchase the Raid gear box of your calling from the vendor in there. This will give you most of the items required for parsing, except a cape and trinket.
    3) Exit the Dummy Foundry by clicking one of the traps behind the vendor. The blue one ports you to Sanctum, the yellow one to Tempest Bay, and the red one to Meridian.
    4) Set your Dungeon Difficulty to Standard and enter the Dummy Foundry again.
    5) Behind the trainers, there is a lever. Click on it and you will get full Conquest XP.
    6) Buy the PA XP items from Fluffy 2 and max out Tier 1 and Tier 2 of the PA tree.
    7) Exit the Dummy Foundry via one of the traps at the top right hand corner of the instance.
    8) Set your Dungeon Difficulty to Expert and enter the Dummy Foundry again.
    9) You can now start parsing on the level 62 raid-ready dummies in this instance.
    10) Do the parses for about 4 mins.

Please ensure the following conditions are met for testing.

    1) Max out T1 and T2 PA.
    2) Full Conquest Buffs
    3) NO Consumables of any kind. No whetstones/oilstones/vials etc. Use only Runes found in the gear box.
    4) Level 60 Raid 1 Epic gear.
    5) NO Trinkets. NO Cape. The gear box doesn't provide it.
    6) For AE Parses, parse them on the 8 dummy stacks.

I would like ST and AE parses WITH and WITHOUT synergy crystals against the level 62 practice dummies found in the Expert Mode Dummy Foundry.

Please post your build and results, including the breakdown of the individual abilities in this thread.

    Thank you for your time.

As much as I like the dummy testing idea.

This reeks a little bit of being lazy. You guys have the formulas. You should know what builds are going to do.

Now, if you are going to tell me that if Rogues for ONCE parse higher than a warrior and will keep it . . . I will parse forever!

Seems like you forgot "and you shake it all about" all them instructions to parse are like the hokey-pokey!

It's not lazy. Formulas provide what SHOULD happen...but both bugs and unintended consequences can (and do) happen. Fact is, there's only 1 dev...and thousands of players, all of whom are going to try and "break" the system to find ways to pump up DPS beyond where it "should" be, according to just the formula.

If you need further evidence, check out the change to destructive forces and reckless. Finding these bugs early, makes everyone's life a lot better in the world of Telara.

(plus, it's hardly lazy that a dev wants/will have to spend hours poring over data provided by testing....he knows he's setting himself up for long hours of looking at numbers. Hardly lazy in my eyes).

It isn't about being lazy. No one can come up will all possible builds and rotations (many of the best builds currently took a long time to fine tune and tweak points and rotations with a large number of people working to maximize them). Crowd sourcing the community to experiment in a controlled enviroment provides better more timely feedback on where the various builds and rotations are in comparison to each other. It is simply impractical to expect any dev or dev team to be able to come up with all the top variations of builds and rotations and none ever have in any mmo and certainly not in one with as much variety as rift.

From past experience, Ailion has done an excellent job of assuring that the souls/class he was responsible for were within very close margins of the internal targets.

Also from past experience, a copy/paste of the DPS breakdown from ACT is the ideal data that the devs are looking for.

Could we have multiple sets of lessers given to use for dps testing?

Right now we have a full AP sigil. I would like to see a full CP sigil as well, since different builds favor AP vs CP. The gear provides had little in the way of CP, but on Live, CP stacking is very common. It would be unwise to parse void of the high CP that players are gearing for. Otherwise we will see certain builds parsing higher on live than expected.

The raid buff you have in there should include LE/Fervor.

I raid only 1 hour per week!

this is great! I love it when we get to test in exacting conditions so we know the information is valid and being counted. (as opposed to random testing where we don't know what the dev's want us to do)

question though, are you looking for rogue/warrior parses only or is kervik also in on this for mage/cleric info?

Perhaps I was not as clear as I should have been.

The dev team knows the formula's. They wrote the code! They know what each ability will be doing. They have teams of programmers. This is pure math. They can code a simulator that will try all the possible permutations of builds. They can program in misclick %, latency, server lag, etc.

This is why I state it reeks of laziness.

Durango, yes, I agree, they do not have the time to test every build as a dev. However, the cpu power they have behind them allows them to automate it. As far as engaging the community, sure, no problem with that. But you and I are not naive enough to believe that somehow, someway we are going to find some magical combination of souls that they did not. We may find some BUGS, but to find the raw numbers . . . nah, I believe they already have it. They have to! They can not tune dungeons or even PVP without it.

I stand by other comment . . . let Rogues stay in the top spot for a bit and I will test all the permutations myself. And by top spot, not just one fight, but through a whole instance.

    This idea reeks of genius.

More feedback if I get around to trying it.

Hey there Aillion!!! would you guys add in a dummy that is at 50% and 30% HP so we can do certain specs rotations, ie inferno and deaths door?

    Thanks guys

    Cheers!
