Default Tool tips need to be changed.

They are far too vague and don't provide the player with anywhere near the information they need.

    Case in point Lifegiving veil.

Best used to heal a party or raid.

Damage dealt by the Mage heals up to 5 party or raid members for a small portion of the damage done. Heals significantly more using Life damage. Heals significantly less using area effect damage. Lasts 1h.

Okay great, this tells me absolutely nothing about how much healing will be done by using an ability.
It also doesn't say how far the person needs to be in order to benefit from the effect.

How much more healing is done with life damage?
    how much less with AE?

    Or another example, Arresting Presence:
Applies Arresting Presence to the target, Silencing all nearby enemies. Consumes Charge while active.

Okay great, but now I have absolutely no idea how close they have to be.
In fact this means that the tooltips for improved presence as well as the nyx dom crystal now make no sense.
How much was the base Arresting/Reflecting presence?
    Is it now 15 m?
    20m?

If it is impossible to toggle between simple tooltips and detailed tooltips, then leave the detailed tooltips.
It is better for someone to be confused and ask for clarification, than for them to be completely ignorant.

You don't do it to DPS/Healing abilities, don't do it to utility based abilities.

maybe im wrong about this as its been a while since ive been on my mage. as i recall though mages in either veil dont receive heals from other mages veil. i would think this is a rather important thing to state.

threat needs to be added back into the description of abilities that add it. Why would that have been removed? did the person who rewrote them not understand why it would be important to know which abilities add threat and which don't?

A silly change for changes sake is a silly change.

yes as has been discussed before, in typical TRION form they saw something that need minor adjustment and instead of using a jewelers kit they used a wrecking ball.

of course they could of reverted the changes... but that would mean admitting they were wrong. they are too deep in now. it would be even more embarassing for them if they came out and said they were wrong after all, so we all have to suffer lack of information.

the best fix to accomadate both side i have saw so far was the idea of bulleted tooltips.
    as an example:

    Guarded Steel
*Deals weapon plus combo point damage
*Increases armor by 30% for 30s
    1 point) 153 dmg
    2 points) 276 dmg
    3 points) 398 dmg
    4 points) 491 dmg
    5 points) 613 dmg

    Shadow Blitz
    *Teleport to enemy
*Deals weapon plus 221 to 225 physical damage to up to 10 enemies
    *Awards 2 combo points

with bullets if you really want you can remove all the flavor text they seem to want to get rid of. though you can still organize all the useful information in a meaningful way that is very understandable.

It wouldn't shame them a bit to fix the tooltips.
If anything, more people would actually see it as a good thing.

I want my old tooltips back, or at least an option to have them instead of the new CRAP tooltips. I mean who really thought some of these are valid? Change please Trion, cleric descriptions are horrid as well.

Whoa when did that **** change?
Just looked at my veil tooltip for the first time in a LONG time and... I'm very upset...

Plus, before wasn't Lifegiving healing for more than 100% of the damage of your life based ability? That doesn't seem like a small portion, and "significantly more" doesn't exactly describe it well..

I haven't actually read tooltips in a couple months, just have my bars set up to do what they are supposed to do...

    Synthesis
"Increases the healing the ally receives from the Mage's Lifebound Veil. Applies Lifebound Veil to the Mage. Can only affect 1 ally, never the Mage. Lasts 1h."

    That's TOTALLY useful information...
Not like anyone would want to know exactly how much more they are healing the tank, or how much less they are healing the raid...

In fact, the ONLY difference in wording between Lifegiving and Lifebound is "Best used to heal a party or raid." and "Best used with Synthesis to heal a Single Target." The actual effect wording is the exact same, which to me is terrible.

Seriously, how could this have felt like a good idea? That explains why I've had to explain so much to new mages in our guild, or anyone that makes a mage alt...

This change is just really upsetting... I really dislike it, and hope they change it back, or at least allow proper tooltips so we can know exactly what we are doing.

Plus, If we can handle playing Defilemancer, or Dominator, I'm sure we can handle the REAL tooltips

On a side note, Kervik if you ever read this, please bring back Building Storm.
Doesn't matter what is put here, someone is going to @#%^& about it, regardless of what it is.

Riftstalker Phases descriptions are nearly as useless as the Chlormancer Veils. Why in heaven's name was it deemed necessary to remove how much the Phases actually buff the relevant stats by? Really, that one still baffles me.

I can only imagine that when trying to trim off the flavour text to make the tooltips easier to read someone, somewhere misinterpretted this goal as simply to cut off as many words from the descriptions as was humanly possible - regardless of whether or not a description was too hard to read at all.

Though this doesn't explain why the values were cut off so many of them.

Maybe have an option "enable detailed tooltips" and during the intro to the game have it explained that you can enable or disable it and what it does.

Simple tooltips for people who don't mind, complicated ones if you need them.

They said that it currently could not be implemented.
As such I'd prefer they change it back to the way it was before they implemented these terrible tooltips.

Okay great, this tells me absolutely nothing about how much healing will be done by using an ability.

You don't do it to DPS/Healing abilities, don't do it to utility based abilities.
The detailed descriptions are in the soul talents ----- but this is the wrong place. Spell tool tips' should be updated upon the spending of soul talent and saving points. This would alleviate to UI clumsiness of having to constantly bring up the Soul UI.

I would propose adding in some UI options that would toggle between abridged, detailed, verbose ( would also include numbers, ?maybe? some game mechanics math and, which soul talents are affecting said Spell ) and a delaying trigger through mouse hovering before switching to one of the above tool tip types.

    I've checked.
The talents only detail how much more they will increase the radius, but not the original base damage.
