[DISCUSSION] Make Planar Attunement Experience Universal to Account

I would love it if the experience I've earned on my main roughly 350 PA levels, would be the same experience across the board on my account. I will say that due to its current state I will never have it in me to level up an ALT that will be just as competitive. The task is just too daunting, but maybe that's just me.

I know there are a few games that have similar system to planar attunement and they are universal to the account. If the transition would be too difficult for Trion to accomplish, (taking all PA XP from all characters and combining them) I think people would be just as satisfied with the system being implemented and having their highest PA go universal across their account.

Naturally, to avoid any problems, the planar attunement xp your account has earned would not be available to your toon until you reach level 50. I think it would definitely encourage people to run alternative characters more and keep the general happiness of current players/vets in check.

I barely play my alts anymore since PAs came out since whenever I do I feel like I'm gimping my main. This would be a welcome change!

It would also help stop a lot of the QQ about certian classes being inferior for farming, not able to solo easily on your main? Hop on your warrior alt!

I disagree with this and here is why;

This may just be my opinion, or it could be that I come from a game with no level cap, but I actually kind of hate the idea that people should have like 3 alts all geared out the same. I like the idea of a "main" character. Alts are fine, if that is your chosen path, but in games like this wear gearing is fairly easy but grinding takes time, and progression takes time, I don't like the idea of me, or anyone else, being able to make a character of equal "value" ie gear, levels, etc. To our main characters in like 2-3 weeks. It's the same reason you can't trade marks to new lvl 50s on your account... It would normalize the game completely and kill any sense of acheivement the long hours of an mmo are supposed to give.

But hey, that's just my opinion. I hate to use the "slippery slope" fallacy but if we are making pas universal, why not make marks/gear bid to account and not soul bound. Just saying. If you want the best geared and highest pa leveled characters of all 4 classes, do you think it should be as easy as making 1 character in a year and the other 3 in 2 months combined?

NO, because of those daily/weekly quests. with 4 5 alts, i can get loads of weekly/daily to boost my PA from alt.

I'm a little on the fence about this. My main is a cleric with a little over 400 PA levels and even then it's just not enough for me. I always feel guilty playing on my mage that oddly enough has earned about ~120 PA levels just from farming T2s, Masters, PVP and HK. Now I've wanted to get my rogue to at least a 4pc Zardonis but it has a measly 10 PA levels.

I want easymode for my alts but at the same time... I don't want it to come that easy. The hard work put into my main is because it's my main. I don't want it trivialized. ;<

Almost think that instead of making the PA purely account-bound they find a way to transfer the PA experience within reason to keep people from racking up enormous amounts with multiple alts.

I'd prefer not seeing another currency, but it would seem reasonable to purchase a bind between two characters in an account that could transfer PA. Limiting it to two allows for one main and one alt without permitting excessive exploitation of the system. Or simply place diminishing returns on PA transfers (i.e., a second alt would not be able to transfer PA over at a 1:1 ratio).

Then again, you may annoy players who complain about people who put time into farming PA as having an unfair advantage. I think such comments are pointless as it simply reflects the time you have to play the game or are willing to devote to the game, but know people will complain regardless.

I like the idea, just not sure it will actually even hit PTS.

I don't know a lot of people with a full account of level 50 ALTS but I'm sure they're out there. If someone wanted to log into each character everyday, do the daily expert dungeon/pvp AND all the weekly raid stuff then you deserve the extra levels and it wouldn't bother me at all.

Yes, but you're unemployed and living in your parents' basement. What about the rest of us who pay just as much to play but cannot afford to devote 60 hours a week to playing it?

Though I kinda like the idea, the above source is the biggest problem confronting this. Doing all my dailies on all my alts in one day I can easily have my main gain possibly over 50 levels of planar attunement. Lets do math shall we :-)

Assume 4 charactors (which I have one of each class, my mage is my main).

1) 4 levels: just for doing the dungeon daily for each charactor super fast.
2) 4 levels: turning in my plaques for those at the end of that day.
3) 3-5 levels: I hop over to ember isle and finish one phase of a zone event. Once over I get on an alt and do another phase, hop on another alt finish the next phase, and my final alt for the final phase. All that crystalized inscribed for each charactor now attunes my main.
4) 4 levels PVP daily, if I complete for each char now my main gets an additional 4 levels.

Just from dailies alone, i can get my main charactor 15-20 levels in just a regular evening of gameplay, which is a little obsurd.

5) 4 charactors to rank 40 (oki they are all rank 25 still but hypothetically speaking) gets me 160 planar attunement levels for my main.

The problem is that it will prevent the time sink they wanted to put in there. People would fill out their attunement so fast their'd be nothing left of it. I'd be all great for it but I foresee too much problems with this.

However I would like to see the option of once your attunement is full, you could send planar attunement earned to another charactor, even if a reduced amount. Or to help with alts, 10% of all attunement earned via actual kills is added to charactors currently not played. I could see reason in that.

With good reason. There is a status quo, WAI, planar attunement is per character and separate.

This GIVES ME REASON TO PLAY MY ALTS.

The reason given by most for the change is that it discourages playing alts. I counter that by saying it encourages me to play alts and a change would discourage me.

So we have the same reason given for as against.

Status quo WAI wins.
