I'm sure this is a known issue, but they still override whetstones and other temporary weapon buffs, making them rather pointless.

This would be really nice if it was fixed. I like tanking with my electro-mace.![]()

Pretty much the reason why I have never ever used a single cosmetic rune.
Other than that very first time at release when I realised they did this and just yesterday when I see it's still the same.
The logic, I can't see it.
Ya I have made a few threads about this. With 1.7 giving access to all the old world event items with its currency exchange, would really love to see this happen.
Also on a side note, please make ranged items take aesthetic runes. I know it can easily be done, especially with the high rank pvp ranged items having glowly effects. The aesthetic runes are also pointless for your appearence if you play a spec who primarily has their ranged weapon out.
Some of the aesthetic runes give stats, such as the ones that give end, or the ones that let you breath underwater. Therefor i see it reasonable to allow it to remove whetstones and such.
It's understandable that those specific ones override whetstones etc, but the ones that don't give stats shouldn't.
Also on a side note, the runes from the first two world events are consumable while the ones from later event aren't. This sucks when you want to have water effects on your weapons.
Another problem is that the stuff like 'flaring glyph' etc have effects, it makes your weapon have a little fire effect on the end.
So which effect takes precedence ?
while this may be true it is completely within their power, imo, to fix it.
something like this maybe:
weapon
permanent rune/enhance (your runecrafter stat stuff ex. dex, str, end, etc)
temp combat rune/enhance (temporary rune with stats ex. preorder runes, weaponstones, etc.)
temp cosmetic rune (temporary appearance only runes ex. particle charge, endless overgrowth oil, etc.)
right now you can only have 2 effects on your weapon (a permanent and a temporary) however if they changed the way the game handles this then appearance only items can have their own place and not interfere with current combat enhancement runes.
ya i have pointed that out a few times in their in game support stuff.
since nothing happened yet i posted here in the suggestion forum about it.
