    Default Upcoming 1.7 Endgame Improvements

    Evening Everyone,

As we mentioned in our December Q&A we have a number of changes incoming with our 1.7 patch focused at improving the overall experience for our high level players! Listed below are the highlights for what’s incoming to PTS, as each new change hits the test server we will be posting a more detailed thread on the topic for people to give feedback on!

As always this is just a portion of what we are currently working on for 1.7, so expect to see updates to features, patch notes, and forum posts as we get closer to releasing the patch!

    Thanks!
    - The Rift Team

    Greater variety for expert dungeons!

In order to give our expert dungeon players a much larger variety of dungeon content, we will be combining both tiers of expert dungeons into a single “Expert Dungeon” Category. All expert dungeons will be similar difficulty to our existing Expert Tier 2 dungeons, and those dungeons that have gotten harder will have new upgraded loot added to them.

In addition we will be revisiting our existing “Entry Level 50” content such as Chronicles, Dungeons, and Rift content to ensure that the rewards earned will smoothly transition players into expert dungeon content, not only will these changes make early level 50 content more rewarding, but it will also help to smooth the progression for new level 50 players into harder PvP and PvE content!

    Streamlining item progression!

Another big improvement incoming with 1.7 is addressing some of the frustration for a new level 50 who is trying to gear up to be competitive in PvE / PvP. Currently on live the jump in item power between content tiers is inconsistent. Early in their endgame experience players get smaller upgrades and as they progress the jump in item power gets significantly larger.

As a result we’ve decided to go back and even out the power curve for post level 50 players, giving them a cleaner progression through gear with more even increases in stat between one tier and the next.
Players currently in the top tier items from Hammerknell and Rank 8 PVP will see not change to their equipment, but players below this level will see an increase in item power as we even out the large gaps between our highest tiers of content.

PVP planar attunement & Prestige system revamp and more!

Last but definitely not least we have a number PVP improvements coming with this patch focused on improving a player’s PVP leveling experience while still keeping the matches as competitive as possible. New level 50 players who are placed in both ranked and non ranked matches will have their base stats automatically bolstered to a minimum level, allowing them to be more than just a speed bump for a higher level player.

For existing PVP players, Items purchased from the Prestige store will get the same improvements as the rest of the game, making sure that the jump in power between each set of items is more consistent. In addition we are removing the prestige rank requirements from many of the items, which will give players more freedom when choosing to purchase / upgrade PVP equipment.

Speaking of ranks we will be adjusting the Prestige Rank system to have significantly more ranks, players will have their old rank automatically mapped to the new rank. With these new Ranks come new rewards, including costume versions of PVP armor sets, Planar Attunement Points, and more.

Additionally, we will be doing away with our existing PVP Souls. Moving forward we want PVP players to be able to play the soul combination they want to play and not have to worry about sacrificing soul points to obtain PVP bonuses. Instead we have taken many of the popular bonuses & abilities from these soul trees and placed them in a NEW planar attunement tree specifically focused on PVP.

Finally, we are continuing to look into a number of improvements for warfront queue’s and matchmaking which will be released in a future PTS update in the next few weeks. So keep tuned for more information!

The PvP-focused planar attunement tree sounds like a really awesome idea, but I take it this means no access to PvP functionality for pre-50s? With the XP Lock feature, it seems like there'd be some room for people building sub-50 brackets and actually having fun in them, but with no way to get that functionality, that seems difficult.
You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob! I don't speak for Riftui, but I moderate stuff there. Got ideas for improving the RIFT community? Feel free to PM me. Just came back? Welcome back! Here's what's changed.

Rogue planar attunement needs to be looked at

    http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-gene...ement-bug.html

From a players perspective it seems imbalanced in the endgame.

We're making sure that "Break Free" is availible pre-50, since that was the single most popular reason to take a PVP soul pre-50

I'd love to see a dev response of the very vocal and passionate thread about the huge buffs to PVE gear in this same forum section.

As for these PVP changes: Will all items lose their prestige requirement, or just armor, or select pieces? I would think some of the weapons will keep their prestige requirements. It might actually be a bad thing because its feast or famine for HK warrior 2Hers.

Why not just make Break Free a baseline ability that everyone gets at level 1?

So...people who pvp are going to have to spend points permanently in a pvp attunement sphere that will probably not have any function in pve, or would have to spend 100m per reset in order to switch from pvp to pve when they have not attained enough points to comfortably switch from pvp to pve without losing out on some stats?

I don't like the sound of that.

And about the new ranks/gears? Why not make theme gears for the final rank? Elemented, hp, armour, etc.
Without adjusting stats just focus? I wouldn't mind a death and fire set or an hp/dodge set for fine tuning my build.

Are any new WarFronts coming or World PvP content?

I like most of the changes.

But will I have to decide between focussing on PvE or PvP PA Levels?

My gut feeling says... it's a slippery road. You shouldn't have to decide whether to be competitive in PvE or gaining the (new) minimum Requirements for PvP. Otherwise every player who is in a Raiding guild and likes PvP has to grind one more PA Tree.

I don't know what I'd choose. With the new respec option. Perhaps more and more grinding.

I love it. I just told everyone on my server in Level 50 chat and they seem to be very excited about it too (Most of them apparently don't read the forums).
Fantastic job. This really has got me very, very excited.

Are adjustments going to be made to global cooldown (if not in this upcoming patch, anytime in the future)? Has lowering it some all around been considered?

That is not my reasoning for using the PVP soul. For rogue's, there is plenty of viable abilties, and tools within it. We better be seeing compenstation and buffs to other souls to make up for the lose of Cleanse soul. Pardon the interruption, ect.

Ive based ALL of my PVP specs around the PVP soul because of the utility you got from. If PVER's dont want to use the PVP soul that is THEIR problem, and shouldnt punish the hardcore that actually play to PVP, not jerk each other of in Warfronts.

wouldn´t it be better, not to use the common planar attunement points for the pvp part?
i think a better solution would be using the lifetime favor/prestige for the pvp tree. let´s say every 50k favor you earn, you get 100 points to spend. additionally you can buy planar attunement points but they are only usable for the pvp tree...

Since I cant edit: Ive been leveling up a rogue on Defiant who is now level 30, ive been using the PVP souls since I got 2500favor, for the 10% armor pen, sure Break free is nice, but pre-50 there isnt hardly any CC where Break free is needed.
