I chose Guardians. I think the Defiant will bring about the downfall of Telara: there is a reason the Vigil chose the best and the brightest of the souls to pull out of the soulstream. Defiant. Though I must say, I love that neither side will be considered "evil". In most games, even in ones where there is no good and evil, one side is bent on destruction, so it's okay to call them the bad guys. To have a faction system where both want to save Telara, just in different ways, is refreshing.

Vigil chose the souls because they are the best of the best and willing to fight for his side which is the Guardians just like the Defiant are doing the same thing with the use of technology. He only cares that you fight for the guardians and that you join in the fight to kill regulos and not join the blood dragon cult.

I may, however, go Guardian due to the sheer amount of people going Defiant just to even the odds a little.

I did this in my last MMO.

Rest assured, I will go with which ever faction has the most skilled players (which is beginning to look like defiant), because I'm tired of being outnumbered on a server 5 to 2 and not being able to find groups.

Now that more details have come out about the Guardians and the Defiants, we're curious to see how people have chosen to align themselves!

I have been Defiant from day 1 of tuning in here to Rift and I'll be Defiant till the end.

I'm a little more interested in the Guardians since the lore was revealed but I'm just sold on the forbidden technology slant of the Defiants.

I'm still undecided. There are things in both factions I like and I think I will go with the faction most in my guild wants to go.

I probably have alts in both sides anyway.

I am still undecided. I dislike Technology in fantasy games but I love the originality of the Bahmi.
I'd go Guardians if they had an interesting non-human race like the Bahmi, but I'm really not interested in the whole elf/dwarf thing either.
I guess I will just have to play both sides and see where it takes me.

Defiant for now but i guess i will make my final decision when i create my first char or when we have the full info about all classes.

I plan on Defiant, as their races are more appealing to me.

I wonder though, why most of the people seem to prefer Defiant, as the Guardians have all the classical races (Elves, Dwarves) and I was so sure that thiswould attract many players.

Maybe a lot more people are tired of the good old classics?

Possibly but these are in places the classics but with a more edgy twist

The Defiant lore and philosophy looks more intresting to me but i prefer the Guardian races.
Also a lot of people see the Defients as the "evil" faction and this will attract more of that kind of people i'd rather like to avoid in game. So i think i'll go Guardian.

Still prefer the Defiant, even more so now that we know all races. But I guess in the end it really comes down to what the guild chooses.

I always played on the darker or more evil side if there were factions. Probably because the difference to RL is even bigger.
